Re: Reloading

Squib loads with Factory ammo? Sounds like something other than the ammo. Does it fire with a second or third hammer strike? I can't shoot a squib again. You may be thinking of a misfire. I thought we were talking misfire... yes, if the primer detonates and there is no boom... that is ammo.... sorry.

Re: Reloading

... a tumbler to clean your brass ... I got a 4th squib today in a match from factory .38 Special ammo. It was a new lot that was supposed to be a "known good" lot according to a Geco Quality Control manager. Now, I'm taking another look at reloading. A Vibratory Case Tumbler seems inexpensive ($40...

Re: What is considered and acceptable group?

I have an older Evelio built franken-hunter. 54:18/Lija Barrel/Pharr RST stock.... the barrel chamber looks very sad through a bore scope... it still shoots MOA outdoors when the wind is calm and I do my part.... I really don't think you can ask for much more. Wind tunnel and rifle clamp. As stated ...

Re: Long vs Short Barrels

I usually shoot 26" barreled rifles for CF lever action silhouette. But my experience has been that the longer sight radius at 200 yards isn't a big deal. Wondering about the ballistic advantage- is there any with the extra barrel length and a 30-30 at 200 yards? Thinking is there any real advantag...

Re: Reloading

The Only Lee products I find of any real value to someone who will be loading a lot is the hand held primer tool and the factory crimp dies. The single stage press they sell is fine if you travel and want something light as its made of aluminum. But for any serious rifle loading get either an RCBS ...

Re: Reloading

Not familiar with Lee’s whack a mole system but my guess is the seating die doesn’t crimp. If you truely want to “try reloading” buy the cheapest Lee single stage kit and watch some videos and talk to people you trust. It’s addictive and you can get ammo more suited to what you are wanting to accomp...

Re: Front sight height

I have a williams FPTK rear and a Lyman AUG on the front.... (at least I believe it's the AUG, just measured and it is right at .6" approx from the bottom of the dovetail to the centerish of the glove...)

YMMV...

I sent pictures of my score book and in less than two weeks I had my cards... all eight of them were correct.

:-B
To be fair T and my cards all came in correct.... I laminated all of them then bound them like a book and put them in her shooting box.... :)

Re: cards

I remain doubtful about this entire process. I sent copies of my book cover and scores for all 13 silhouette disciplines in which I compete. I did finally receive the 3 lever gun cards, one of which was wrong. I emailed NRA about making the correction and nothing was ever done. Once the portal was ...

Shooting in the wind...

To change the topic from the cranky that has been going around the last few months.... I was trying to practice a bit in stupid wind yesterday with a too light of a rifle and it was incredibly annoying. What are some of ya'lls ways of dealing with wind? We know if tends to effect us way more then th...

Re: Silhouette Rifle Rules Changes - 2018

Our clubs in The Carolinas are doing fine. My club's April 6th smallbore and hunting rifle silhouette matches had seven unclassified shooters and twenty-four in all. 4-H nearly doubled the participation. The new shooters weren't aware of rule changes so they had nothing to complain about. Us older ...
