Re: Silhouette Rifle Rules Changes - 2018

Our own apathy and in fighting killed handgun silhouette and IHMSA didn’t save it. It is dying as well, going down the equipment race hole that restrictions and rule fighting and extra catagories and super tricked out guns live. Only place its alive is in the memories of old shooters. Silhouette is...

Re: 45gr CCI Suppressor ammo for lever guns?

.22LR is marginal for Pistol Cartridge, You have 50/50chance of ringing rams at 100 yards.
Yesterday I used the new 45gr Winchester .22LR round and knocked over every ram I hit. Didn't win, but felt like the 45gr did its job well. Will use again.

Re: Scoped Lever action silhouette

This should be discussed in Raton. At the competators meeting. That'll kill it for sure! Nothing modern allowed! Michael Any cartridge, rifle, sight or not from the 19th centry (1800s) won't get anyone's attention. Actually, I'm kinda surprised they let us use modern .22lr ammo.. Guess black powder ...

Re: 45gr CCI Suppressor ammo for lever guns?

Range test yesterday. Sighted the Henry in with CCI Std Vel 40gr then switched to Winchester 45gr Supper Suppressor - no cleaning between. Discovered that at 100 yards the 45gr Win was hitting the same point of impact as the CCI Std Vel - with no elevation change. The Winchester is 45gr round nose s...

Re: Silhouette Rifle Rules Changes - 2018

FWIW I started with the basic Williams rear sight aperture and won my class ever so often. Then tried Tang sight, then a Merit adjustable aperture and various size apertures...my scores showed that I was not doing as well as before. This year I'm going back to a standard aperture and a fiber optic b...

Re: Silhouette Rifle Rules Changes - 2018

In my opinion lever gun needs a scope class, just like BPCR. A separate class with simple scope restrictions. I made that suggest a couple of years ago - 6 power or lower power scopes shooting Pistol Cartridge rifles at CLA distances... Here is the total number of responses I got to my suggestion. ...

Re: "Post or Bead insert..."

People in Raton will pitch a fit...just because they can.
However, I'd think it not a traditional bead and not allowed. But I've been wrong before.
Im sure there will be additional comments.

Speer 165gr Grand Slam bullet

I saw these on the Graf & Sons web site - they "look" like the correct bullet profile for us - but I'd like to know for sure...are they considered "flat nose" of Spitzer? - Speer 165gr Grand Slam .308 bullet -

is .356 legal for CLA?

A neighbor has a .356 he wants to sell me - being "semi-rimmed" I think it might not be legal. So, I'm asking, is the .356 legal for CLA matches? (won't hurt my feelings if you say no - I have a fine running 30-30, but its always nice to have an extra hog gun. And we seem to have a overly-large popu...
