Dumb question about the Lever Action Nationals

I suppose I should know this, but I should be taller/younger/richer too. Is there a description for the course(s) of fire for the matches. I seem to recall one 40 or 60 round CLA match and two each Pistol Cartridge and Small Bore. Can anyone direct me to descriptions of the National Matches? Are the...

Re: How consistent are Speer 2007 130-grain .308 bullets?

I did a similar process with Speer 75gr .257FN bullets. Other than weeding out the rejects (way too light) I found the benefit was more psychological than physical. It is mentally encouraging to know you are shooting the best ammo you can make, but the reality (for me) is I wobble to much to make th...

Re: CCI Sub-Sonic HP vs CCI Standard Vel

I tested these two yesterday - not much difference. Almost the same point of impact and group sizes similar.

Also retested SK Flatnose. The light must have been different last time - the Flatnose shot a nice tiny groups at 50, 75 & 100 yards this time.
Will use more when available.

CCI Sub-Sonic HP vs CCI Standard Vel

Has anyone testes these against each other. The HP is 20-fps slower, but is said to "engage the rifling". Just wondering if Standard Velocity is better? (I'm still looking for Jedi mind-control bullets. Eley Force had potential, but didn't live up to expectations - either "The Force" wasn't with me ...

Re: Any Scope Actually Made In USA?

I'm not going to respond to this any longer. But, I shot a .44 Mag single shot with the fake Leupold shot with. I held up for 20 shots. I asked the seller to refund my payment because it was a fake. He responded with "keep it - I'll refund the price" So, not I have a very sharp, very clear, non-Leup...

Follow Ken's advice, and make a stencil. Then, use spray paint and cardboard. If you want to get really fancy, cover the cardboard first with bright duct tape. Then paint. Voila! Silhouette shoot and see targets.
Thanks,

Where can I find paper targets

I know this has been posted before, but I had no luck finding it. Can anyone direct me to a download for paper targets I can print at home? (Lever Action PC size).

Thanks,
Michael

Re: SK Flatnose ammo

I shot most of a box of Flat Nose at the range today. The only surprise was the minor elevation adjustment needed at 75 yards and again at 100 yards. Lever action Henry rifle with Williams receiver sight. 1/2 turn up from "zero" @ 75 yards and 1 revolution more @ 100 yards. I'm used to more elevatio...

Re: "New" lever gun silhouette challenge
How about letting snaketail2 answer these questions, since he started this thread.
Admirable idea, but I'm letting the suggestions build up. The only change I've made from the original post is to lower the allowable scope power to 6. What about alternative calibers - maybe .256 or ...

Re: "New" lever gun silhouette challenge

A new Lever Action Silhouette game – proposed name “Hunter’s Rifle” This is an overt attempt to draw more people into the sport, add an additional match and introduce optics to the Lever Action sport. My proposal is simple: The shooter can use a scope up to 6 power and Pistol Cartridge rifles to sho...

Re: Any Scope Actually Made In USA?

Sorry, I should have specified that I mounted and shot the scope yesterday. I was testing .22 ammo in my rifle. It held at 40/50/75 & 100 and returned to the same settings a couple of times. It may only last 6 months (the Weaver I had came with awful optics and would not return to "zero" and I wound...

Re: Any Scope Actually Made In USA?

These are the counterfeit scopes that Leupold references on their website. There is no Leupold warranty whatsoever. You have been had
I suppose "had" is a subjective term. For $66 I got a very nice scope that is clear and sharp. It holds zero, and clicks are positive. I plan to put it on a...
