Re: 25-20 load for 50gr lead...

My experience is usually "non-typical", meaning that what I've experienced doesn't match anyone else's experience. So: A. Winchester right? - cause if she is shooting a Marlin they be micro grooved and not real friendly to lead. B. Might as well use black powder - and station her downwind of everyon...

Re: sight in, ammo testing

If you hold "center-mass" a 100 yard you'll be OK. The target is big enough to allow a 1" wobble If you sight your rifle in at 50 (should be good for 40 yards too), 75 and 100 yards from a bench you'll likely be off the mark...sight your rifle in as you will shoot it in a match. Use the same stance,...

45gr CCI Suppressor ammo for lever guns?

Have any of you tried the “new” CCI Suppressor 45gr .22LR ammo? It is a lead hollow point that is said to open up at low velocity – the bullet has a reported muzzle speed of 970fps. I take this to mean soft lead that would, and as Tim Lee describes it “Have a “Spit wad affect” upon impact of a steel...

Winter Project Advise

I'm a mediocre shooters. But I like to shoot and like the people I shoot with. I have the three necessary rifles, but would like to add another - just for fun. I'm looking for a Remington 572 .22 pump rifle that I can refinish, lighten the trigger and shoot in smallbore matches. I have two questions...

While you’re figuring it out, go catch some speckled trout and redfish. This is the time of year to slay’em!
Had planned to go tomorrow. Wading with plastics and jig heads. Thanks for he encouragement.

Re: Key Hole with my new Henry and Hornady

Will do Joe.
I don't think its is a serious problem. I can shoot CCI and be happy, but I'll check the twist rate and call Henry.

Key Hole with my new Henry and Hornady

I have a newish Henry. Maybe 300 rounds through it. Today I took it to the range with CCI TMJ and Hornady Critical Defense ammo. The CCI shot very well - 3" off hand at 100 yards. The Hornady could not find the paper at 100 yards. I moved back to 50 yards. CCI still made small groups, but Hornady wa...

The weather was great, lunch was good and the locals were friendly. Thanks for a great match. I'd do this one again.

Re: Armscore .22 Mag ammo

I see, Greg wants me to try it for myself, and report my findings. I think I'll pass on the sale, and take these findings as the final verdict.

Armscore .22 Mag ammo

Has anyone tried Armscore .22 Mag ammo? Made in the Philippines. Price seems good, but curious about quality/accuracy.

Re: Where can I find paper targets

Met a guy this summer who makes targets out of sheet rock - wallboard.
Hits make a puff when the gypsum is struck.
He made a stencil and spray paints em on.

So it has gotten better in the last 11 years! Good, cause parts for old rifles are expensive.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Re: .22mag -again - ammo selection

Jim & Charlie: Thanks for the info guys. I once, unwisely, mixed jacketed and cast bullets in the same match. I'm wary of making a similar mistake with the .22 mag. Local range is partly underwater and FULL of mosquitos (West Nile present here too). I'll test once the skeeters are under control. Mic...

.22mag -again - ammo selection

Re: Hornady Critical Defense vs CCI TMJ .22 magnum ammo. I have an idea. It may not be a good idea, but it is something to think about. If I shoot the 40gr CCI TMJ ammo at chickens, pigs and turkeys then switch to 45gr Hornady Critical Defense for Rams (only) will I be wasting my time/money? Does th...
