Re: UPDATED SCHEDULE FOR NRA SILHOUETTE CHAMPIONSHIPS

I propose that we petition to change the name of this website from SteelChickens to FloggingDeadHorses. A much more precise label for this place.

Re: Missouri 2020 Lever Gun matches (rifle cal.)

Is there any chance that there will be a 2020 BPCR Regional in MO next year?

Can't say that I've received on word about this.

We really should quit blaming everyone else and do our own advertising. Only way it's going to get done.

Re: Help for new shooter to lever

Rather than peening, a thin strip of aluminum from a beer or soda can put underneath the site while mounting it will fix it permanently in place without bending any barrel metal. Yes I know about aluminum and steel. It works.

Thanks. I would never have guessed.

He did pretty well and keeps getting better every year. Maybe next year, he can win it all.

And maybe bring a few more Aussies over to shoot again.

Re: target repair

If castings are not very weldable, has anyone considered drilling at tapping from the base for grade 8 bolts? Probably not worth the trouble, but might get a little more life out of a set of targets that way.

The 38-55 is probably the most ideal round. But finding one under $1500 is impossible.
You might be able to make one for less. Maybe. Reboring a .30-30 for $250.

Re: .357 or 30-30 or what caliber for Rifle silhouette

I prefer heavier, bullets than the .30-30. Less recoil when slowed down. .38-55 can't be beat, if you ask me. .30-30s are too much recoil.

Some clubs don't allow supresssors. check your local clubs first.
Why is that? What could possibly bad about them at well below 1000 fps?

Re: Spirit level front sights for lever actions

there is only one way to settle this in your mind. Take your rifle and temporarily rig up some sort of level system for it or mount a scope with crosshairs that can be precisely canted relative to the target frame. Then shoot a few groups with the rifle as near perfectly vertical as possible and the...

Re: Spirit level front sights for lever actions

The level will not obscure the target. That wouldn't make any sense for any shooting game. It might be a bit of a distraction however. I use a level on my BPCR, as to 95% of all BPCR shooters. But when it come to shooting chickens offhand at 200 meters, I ignore it. My offhand "natural position" is ...
