Re: is .356 legal for CLA?

What is a semi-rim? It only goes 1/2 way around the case? If it projects all the way around it is a rim, no? I hate vocabulary issues.

Re: Opinions please .22 bpcr sights and scopes and bases

Dick, The cost of the MVA B5 is far less than the DZ, so that may be a factor too. The DZ is a very fine scope, no doubt about that, but very pricey. The new MVA's I have seen as prototypes look excellent, but I have no first hand experience with them on the firing line.

Re: Opinions please .22 bpcr sights and scopes and bases

Price is not the primary consideration. I just want to do this only once. How tall of rear sight, how much windage adjustment should I plan on? Do I need a spirit level in the front or is that more important for bpcr? Thanks again Spirit levels are not critical but they are a good confidence builde...

Where was it, and what flavor of silhouette?

Congratulations to Mrs Dibble. I presume her husband will be on the hook for a while over this.

Re: Proposed Steel Chickens Forum Registration Process

Y'all have valid points. I wouldn't want to deny anyone without a NRA competitor number/membership number the privilege to partake in these discussions. How can the forum registration process get fixed? I'll make one suggestion and you can tell me what's wrong with it. This site is not getting even...

Re: Proposed Steel Chickens Forum Registration Process

At least one game included on this forum is not an NRA game (.22 BPCR) and has their own association. Also, the NRA is typically anything but quick with updating databases, and finally, what about people that are interested, but not yet an NRA member, much less a competitor. I don't support your sug...

Re: Rifle for big bore lever gun

Hey guys. Before you go hacking off your buttstocks best check the rules. Rifle must be as originally configured. Adding a pad is ok though. This statement got me to wondering if an original Winchester or Marlin made as a full-blown schuetzen rifle would be legal. I believe both companies made them...

Re: Rifle for big bore lever gun

Brentd said...If my .45-70 was a legal gun, I'd try that too. A friend has one that shoots very soft. I wasn't aware 45-70 wasn't allowed. [/quote] The caliber is allowed, but my rifle is not legal. It is old 95 Marlin square bolt but the barrel has been replaced. I could always have it roll stampe...

Re: Rifle for big bore lever gun

I have no input on the 38-55 other then I have heard the recoil is lighter but there is more of a mortar round trajectory out to the rams but they throw a big peice of lead that makes up for the lack of speed. The target is smaller when coming in from top though. Jump in, buy a rifle and if you don...

Re: Rifle for big bore lever gun

Instead of a 30-30 that you make go fast, consider A 38-55 and make it go slow. Much more comfortable. Just a thought.

Re: Sight Adjustments At Matches

A rear sight with a vernier scale solves all the problem with counting clicks, white paint, etc. Works every time. Look at what the BPCR / BPTR guys are using and you will see the utility of a vernier scale. They work just as well on a lever rifle.

Re: Marlin 336 Hammer Spur

Perhaps they thought you were referring to the spur that is integral to the hammer itself? That it may have been broken off before shipping or something. You are talking about the side spur that screws on. Are you using a scope? I had one of those things around here somewhere but found it of no valu...

Re: Distance of tang sight holes

Were it my rifle, I would remove the stock and determine if the SSN also appeared in other places on the receiver. If not, I would stamp it on the side tang. (left side probably). Then I would drill the darn thing and forget about it.

But it isn't my rifle.
