Re: 2019 CBC Championships

Any words of wisdom about travel arrangements for someone that would be flying in? Allen, I'm not a local, but enjoyed my trip to Pe Ell immensely a few years ago. If you can afford the time, highly recommend taking the long way to Pe Ell from PDX - grab a rental car at the airport and head West to...

match director in training

Our long-time silhouette match director is off chasing Bambi's pa in the woods so I stepped up to run our monthly club match (4 - 40 round matches). I arrived early to set the targets and set out the registration and score sheets - it took much less time than I had allowed, so I was able to pace ner...

Re: How do most people dry their SS tumbling media?

I don't do anything to dry mine either. I rinse and drain using a wash basin, then leave the media in the bottom - the small amount of water remaining usually evaporates before I'm ready for the next batch. No issues so far.

Re: Gun club match

What will work best, just a match, or is there a league format, if so, how do you score for a league? Any experience with what would work best? easy to manage, attract shooters, etx. Tx Hi, glad to hear you're organizing another Silhouette shooting opportunity. I've not heard it described as a leag...

Re: Rules 1.6(e) 1.7(d) 2.12 No State Membership Required

I like that our National (Canada) and Provincial (British Columbia) championships are open to all, and recognize both Open and Resident champions. Residents are expected (maybe required) to be members of the Provincial/National sanctioning association.

Re: 35 Rem for CLA-- legal but used much?

I started into lever action silhouette about 2 years ago and started shooting a big bore gun last year. I had a Marlin 35 remington and a 45/70. I chose to use the 35. I cast a gas checked RCBS 200 grain flat nose. 10.5 grains of unique. Accurate and will take rams. My bullets end up at about 210-2...

Re: 2018 Arizona State Lever Action Photos

Thanks for sharing your photos. Since I'm just getting started with lever action, these were very useful to me to see the wide range of holds and head positions. With such a variety, I don't know which examples I should copy and which ones I should avoid - are there any specific photos that demonstr...

Re: 30-30 rifle for cast loads

Was I able to complete my grandslam with cast? Yes. Did it take longer? Sure. Am I proud that my little single cavity Lyman 31141 and hours at the range and reloading bench work out? Sure. Do I suggest that effort is for everyone? No. Thanks for the inspiration! I don't shoot CLA yet, but have star...

Re: How many air rifles???

Instead of having three separate matches, one for each rifle, we ran one 80-shot match. Each competitor was allowed to enter with whatever type of rifle he or she chose, but only one. If the rifle was a springer, the shooter was entered in the Sporter competition. If the rifle was a 10 meter gun, t...

Re: Considering a new gun case

What is the preferred case among my fellow silhouette shooters here? I bought a double rifle, pelican knock-off to transport my daughter's CZ and my Sako - I don't think they both would have fit if her scope had target turrets too. It's heavy, so heavy that I won't use it for day trips. If I were d...
