Re: Has anyone felt the Anschutz is just too common?

If you really want something different: http://primaryweapons.com/firearms/t3/ I have one with a Kidd 2-stage trigger and PWS 16" carbon barrel. I like it a lot, but then again, what do I know? It wears Phoenix Precision sights with Gehmann irises. It was suggested to me that a new barrel (maybe a ...

Re: Sight picture?

Here is the app Dustin mentioned. http://marksman-app.com/ Can't tell if there is an option to face the targets left and right. And, of course, I have an Android phone. Investigating. Based on the mentions here, I bought it. Pros: shot size is adjustable; can "undo" a misplaced shot; Silhouette tar...

Re: Teach Early !!!

I found this old thread after my 7 year old asked me if he could join me --and shoot-- at our next competition. Yesterday we took his Savage Rascal with a cheap 3-9 on it out to the range and set up the swingers. He was shooting from a high bench with a bipod, as we haven't begun offhand lessons jus...

Coincidentally, I use the same tools daily. (I'm currently a pipefitter) I use them to hang pipe, work on my old Land Rover and adjust my Izhmash rifle.

They can't have been very good, or surely the Turkeys would have been the target of their wrath. Taking it out on pigs...amateurs.

Re: Leveling and canting

If you consistently hold the rifle with a 42 degree, 39 minute and15 second angle and your scope is zeroed for that with the vertical crosshair is orthogonal to the horizon then it should shoot just as well as someone who does not cant. So cant away and have fun! When you can't cant any more, it is...

Re: 2015 Louisiana Indoor Air Rifle Silhouette Regional

Kudos to taking this on and starting something new with the old chicken house.

I'm chatting with my sister about introducing silhouette where she is, and just getting enough targets out there is a challenge, let alone starting with a big match.

Best of luck to you all. :-bd

Re: NRA Tournament Issues from Headquarters

The range I shoot at is non-sanctioned (it is IHMSA affiliated, but they have a bunch of small bore rifle shooters, like me). My gut tells me that if they decided to become NRA sanctioned at this point, it would severely dampen the enthusiasm out here. Besides, the NRA's presence out here is pretty ...

Re: NEW WEAVER T scopes due in spring 2014

I saw this on Accurate Shooter... T36 with 1/8 knobs are on sale for $379: http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/201 ... or-379-95/

Not sure if it is the same new/improved scope or whatnot.

Re: .22 are back!?!

I went in to my LGS to couple of weeks ago, and they had 5 100rd-boxes of MiniMags left. I bought three, left a pair. Today I went in looking for ammo, and the sales guy goes "hey, you're the guy who left MiniMags on the counter... Two people came in after you and bought one each and left thrilled. ...

Re: Anyone ever shot a little plastic pistol for hunter pist

I'm going to give it a try. Been shooting rimfire silhouette a few times at an IHMSA range at 3/8 targets, and two Sundays after rimfire, they have centerfire on pretty big targets. I wasn't sure what they meant the first time I heard it, so I said that I would bring my .308 Tikka, and got a few wei...

Re: NY ranges

Can residents of New York still shoot guns? :(

Maybe they just throw stones at the animal targets?

Pea gravel for small bore, rocks for full bore. Standing, overhand, unsupported, of course.

Re: Does everyone else tracks their scores?

I like that idea. I typically go out and reset any old bank, usually the rams since I walk a little quicker than some of the guys, but if I go reset the ones I just shot, I can check the splatter mark. Practice calling your shots and you will get better at it. I typically start calling out to them i...
