Re: 1712 Model

I don't think the date code will apply here because 1.) the date code is stamped on the barrel (not with the serial number) and 2.) the "DE" would be a date code for 1934 and they didn't start using date codes until 1968. It's possible "DE" could be a country code for Germany (Deutschland). Accordin...

Re: Longer barrel for CZ455 American - worth it?

More weight out front does provide for more stability. I prefer a slightly front-heavy rifle but some people don't like it.

CZ's are pretty light so anything to get the weight up should be considered a positive, but only you can decide if it's going to work for you.

Re: Logistics for Ridgway

Ok, airline tickets locked in. Flying in Thursday so I can do the practice match; flying out later that Wednesday so I can attend the clinic. I actually found my best deal flying from Houston to Pittsburg on United. Pittsburg's airport is only 13 miles farther than Buffalo's airport (by Google Maps ...

Re: Logistics for Ridgway

A few more questions...

1a. The Saturday warm-up match; is it in the morning, afternoon, all day?
1b. Will the range be open for practice outside of the practice match (late afternoon/evening)?

2. The clinic: is it in the morning, afternoon, all day?

Thanks.

Re: 8.5x25 30mm tube and Annie 1712 make weight?

Evelio has been receiving some lightweight wood stocks. I assume Mark Pharr still has carbon fiber/fiberglass stocks. Not sure if a stock is cheaper than finding a scope though. Not a commentary, just a reference point... I had Evelio put my barreled action into one of his stocks last year and afte...

Re: 8.5x25 30mm tube and Annie 1712 make weight?

I have a friend with a 1712 in a Robertson's stock and a 30mm Leupold in BKL rings. It makes Hunter weight so yes, it can be done.

Ive tried for years to irritate mr corneau. Im not saying its impossible, but if i cant do it, you amatures arent even close. =))
I wouldn't go so far as to call myself unflappable but I've managed to put up with Pat for five years now so I guess I can keep it together most of the time.

Re: Logistics for Ridgway

I was thinking that the small pop-up camper/RV trailer is not too expernsive, especially if you rent one. Right now I have a bit more money than time, so flying to get there and back in a shorter amount of time is where my priorities lie. When I retire (in 20+ years) I'll have more time than money....

Re: Logistics for Ridgway

Have you considered buying an RV trailer, driving out there and staying at a KOA? Uh... no. If I fly there the day before the practice match and fly back the day after the clinic that's seven days away from home/work. If I drove (car or RV) I would be adding four to six more days to the trip (2-3 e...

Logistics for Ridgway

I dropped my registration for Nationals in the mailbox yesterday so now it's time to start working out the logistics... 1. Which is the best city to fly into? Pittsburg, Cleveland, and maybe Buffalo all look to be geographically equidistant. Which airport will offer the best option? Add in car renta...
