Re: Lever gun at Chatuge in North Ga

Joan wants to get one more year under her belt being new to being a match director. Next year could be a better year. I am pushing but let's see what happens.

Re: Rifle for big bore lever gun

The choice of 3030 is the favorite of most cla shooters. I have used a 357 mag with good results. Rams have been rung but it depends on the range you shoot at. Good rails and targets and you will knock them over. I use a 158 plated with 6 grs of titegroup on the first three. Try 180 gr with 14 grs h...

Re: Target Rules

I have found that if the pig has a solid foot all the across you will have a better chance of turning it. If the rails or pads are not level. With two pads on the feet the chances are less for turning the target. Way make the target heavier with a solid pad ? The pig could be the second heaviest tar...

Re: Winchester 73 vs Henry Big Boy maintenance

You are way to hot on your load. I have a Henry Big Boy Steel and use 125 berry with 5.0 titegroup for around 1150 fps. That load takes down all pc targets and chicken and pigs on cla. I use 158 berry with 6 grs titegroup for cpt on cla and 180 Serria jsp with 14 grs h110 for rams. Depending on your...

Re: Cowboy in North Ga.

The season has ended and we at the club would like to thank all for coming out and shooting our matches. Had a few hiccups but I think Joan has got them all worked out. Hope to see everyone back next year.

Re: rule when shooting out of order

A common problem is long time shooters do not keep up with the rules. The second animal would be ruled a miss. The shooter would keep shooting were as the fourth becomes number 3 ,the fifth becomes number four, and whatever is standing furherest to the left of that bank becomes number five.

Re: 44 Magnum Pistol Caliber Loads

Check out the Henry Big Boy Steel. It has a 20 inch barrel but is very accurate. My wife and I shoot this for pc and cla. Prices are about 725 to 750 for a new rifle. A lot of marlin and Winchester owners will go with their brand if you can find one in good shape. Parts could be a problem for older ...

Re: 7-30 Waters, anyone using this anymore, bullets?

In the spirit of the rules I would say no. It should be a flat or round nose bullit as made by a manufacturer. Cutting the tip could result in bad performance of the bullit.

Re: Henry 24" & Lyman Front sight

I have a Frontier in 24 inch. Your choice of rear sight depends on shooting stance. Williams makes a low and a high profile sight. Depending on what you buy determines the height of your front sight. Williams are not as good as they use to be. It would be ideal if your chicken setting is within 10 c...

Re: 2018 NRA Silhouette Nationals Programs

I remember a lot of comments about moving the Nationals east on a rotating bases and that it needs to stay in Raton. Well it's in Raton and now the price goes up and service goes down. Beware of what you ask for. The question of who sets the price for this match should be answered. As to comparing m...
