Re: is .356 legal for CLA?

This topic has been "discussed" at some length in the past, But I don't believe it has been resolved, definitively. Much has been said about rimmed/semi-rimmed, and the semantics of the terms. Initial discussions about the 308Marlin Exp eventuated in an undated communication from Aaron Farmer who sa...

Re: is .356 legal for CLA?

356 Winchester - Semi-rimmed, surely.
Which puts it in the same basket as the 308 Marlin Express, along with the same doubt about eligibility.

I’m not convinced the front sight combination will conform to the overall length rule. 3.1.3 Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette Rifle – a. A front sight anti-glare tube, which may be no longer than 1 1/8” to include any attachments and no larger than a 3/4” outside diameter, may be used. Oh, sure it wi...

Re: This works - Adjustable Aperture

I bought a gehmann aperture linked here: https://www.creedmoorsports.com/product/4588/sights-and-sight-accessories Happy with the range of adjustment, it covers diameters lager and smaller than I use. Photos here: http://imgur.com/a/PaTEhJt The williams site is only partially tapped. In my photos t...

Re: Proposed Steel Chickens Forum Registration Process

Allow me to pitch a curved ball in here regarding the necessity to have an NRA membership number. The Metallic Silhouette shooting sports are enjoyed by a world-wide fraternity. Most use rules that either are, or are based closely on, the NRA Rules. The "parent body" if you will. Some might even asp...

Re: HOLYCOW Dustin

The reference to lever gun ignores a specific problem in that discipline. That problem was /is that the 30-30 was dinging rams and that caliber is not a light recoiling round. At our range there are no specific pads for lever gun rams and if they are set on the rail, that rail being wider than the ...

4. Targets The "feet" and the top of the stand are dimensionally compliant? Maybe the top of the stand/pad is not visible in the picture? 4.1 (part of) The “feet” and the top of the stands must be the same size with a maximum variation of 10%. Re: Leather vests in Lever Action

Instead of adding more verbiage to the rules, why not present a leather jacket to the Match Director, as you are encouraged to do - (3.18 cont'd) The Match Director or Jury shall have the right to examine a shooter’s equipment or apparel. The responsibility shall be upon the competitor to submit que...

Re: Leather vests in Lever Action

I'm relatively new to LA so the "traditions" haven't been passed down to cause any bias. In addition, I'm very analytical. It appears to me that not wearing leather vests is a tradition in LA because I don't see a rule that states wearing a leather vest is illegal. I only see verbiage regarding art...

Re: Aperture on shooting glasses - legal?

The rule change 2017 is worded "The front sights must be a post or bead or a fixed, non-magnified round aperture". I don't think there is any way that a Lee Shaver "four thin wires" type insert can be interpreted as being round . The BPCR would probably allow it, being a type "typical of the era", ...

Re: Marking you "Zero"

After I've established my zero for elevation and windage, I use a Dremel with a small ball grinder tip and engrave a small pocket on the top of the windage knob, at 12o/c position w.r.t. looking down on it from normal hold, and similarly on the windage. Then fill the pockets with a small dab of brig...

Re: rule when shooting out of order

Where does it say that you can now go back to a previous target that you missed but which is still standing, presumably to expend your five allowable shots. "a shooter will fire on the remaining ones in order, then return to the left-most target remaining in the bank and fire any unfired rounds at ...
