Re: Best Group: CZ 457 American .22 LR

This is in the lever action forum?

Try some RWS branded ammo. The 2 CZ 455s that I have shoot RWS the best for some reason.

Rifle match or R50 if you want premium.

Re: Another reloading question.

I'm pretty new to reloading as well. Most powder companies, as Al said, have data posted.

Nosler and Sierra have some manual pages posted online.

I used sierra's manual/pages and hogdon data since I was using H4350 and Varget.

Re: What do you typically do, when

Find a bullet of a similar style and weight and start there with your powder? I used the sierra data for the lapua bullets I was using. There was a 1gr difference in bullet weight 107 vs 108 and 140 vs 139. I started at the minimum charge and never got to max when I was shooting a ladder type test.

Re: 2019 Texas Smallbore State Championship - June 1-2, 2019

We need to get this on the TSRA calendar. I'll email a couple of folks to see what I can do. Dave Phillips is the contact, but I don't know if he 'does' email or not.

Re: 6.5mm Bullet for the Close Animals

With the bullet seated to 2.790" as recommended by Sierra the cylinder of the bullet is about .100" into the neck. At this seating depth it is .09" off the lands. Neck tension is .002". I ran five 5 shot test loads staring a 35.8 gn up to 37 gn of Varget in .3 gn increments. The higher the charge t...

Re: 6.5mm Bullet for the Close Animals

I started reloading late in the summer. I shoot a 6.5 creedmoor. Using 1-2x fired factory Hornady brass and 108 Lapua scenars, I've had really good accuracy. Based on the book, it's not a hot load, but based on conversations with a few other shooters it's hotter than they use. I have 40.5 grains var...

HP Stock (not mine)

Here's a highpower stock posted on the longrange hunting site. Looks like it'd work for a standard rifle. ~$600.

It's not mine.

Re: Classification Changes

I'm new to competitive shooting, 1.5 years in silhouette. Not overly young, but younger than many. Moving to a more online system would very likely help the sport, which by most accounts on this site is dying. Match listings, results, sign up, etc. If I want to shoot PRS, NRL, and others (I don't), ...

Re: Classification Changes

In the spirit of being one of the younger members on this board (I assume. I can't recall seeing any other active shooters ≤ my age posting here.) I'll say this. I hate the books. The book is the dumbest thing I buy every year. Antiquated items that serve little, to no purpose. A copy of the curren...

Re: Membership :steel chickens

I was having trouble. Tried 'everything', and probably had a member or two try as well. There's a 'new users' sticky at the top of club house, dated something like 2007. I emailed the webmaster with my username, etc. and that worked. It's above the forum posts, even above the stickies. None of the '...

Re: Texas Silhouette Calendar

Thanks! I'm in Austin and am going to try to work with Dave Phillips to make sure that the next state smallbore match gets posted online, etc. earlier rather than later. But, those dates at least the next couple of months look correct for the Austin, New Braunfels, and Coolidge matches. Coolidge/HOT...

Re: CZ 455 Silhouette stock

I have a 455 with a Merier stock, I found it off rimfire central. The shell is very light, he puts spots in for weights to be added.

Mark did the inlet on my high power stock that Steve Wooster built. So, he's not 'making' stocks, but he will do the inlet and bedding, etc.
