Re: New NRA Competitions Portal

Worked fine for me. I didn't try using an overly simple password (only number or only letters) and also didn't try any unusual characters. I just used the usual password rules that websites use for password requirements. It would have been nice to have a tooltip or other way of stating the password ...

Re: Scoped Lever action silhouette

Summary: From my own testing, even 4X magnification makes the lever action targets too easy to hit. You don't need target turrets, or even clicks, or a holdover estimating reticle to hit every target. It's the magnification that makes the massive difference. Either the targets have to be smaller or...

Re: Champion's Choice has RWS Target Rifle on sale right now..

I'd probably grab a case of that at that price, but it shows $66 shipping for me all the way up here in WA state. I'm still thinking about it. :D

Re: New Sierra 6.5 MK

I use the Ballistics App and it has a built in stability calculator that uses the Miller formula. Using my load data my 1-7 twist has a stability of 1.85 Substituting a 1-8 comes out to 1.41. So Jason, Does this help. Al Foust Thanks, Al. It does help a bit. The standard formula and recommendation ...

Re: Silhouette Rifle Rules Changes - 2018

I don't want to derail this thread into a deeper technical discussion about lenses in rear sights, so I created a separate thread in the Lever Action forum. I do want to make sure we don't lose shooters because of a mistaken perception, though. The human eye can't focus perfectly clearly on both the...

Re: Can I buy a scorebook or do I need to get it from NRA?

The short version of the answer here is that we aren't using the pre-printed scorebooks with pages for all of the silhouette disciplines in them anymore as of this year. The NRA will issue cards for classifications for individual disciplines instead. The long version of the discussion is in a multi-...

Corrective shooting glasses versus lenses in rear sights

The rule change mentioned in the topic in the Clubhouse reminded me to ask about this. I don't want to clutter that thread, so I'm creating this separate topic here in the lever action forum... What is the effective difference between having a lens in the rear sight instead of just having that same ...

Re: New Sierra 6.5 MK

I got to shoot a HP match this month here in AZ at Ben Avery. We came over the day before and got to practice also. I’m happy to report that the new 150 MK’s take the rams down with authority. I’d highly recommended them. My gun has a 1-7 twist barrel, but I know shooters who are using them with a ...

Re: cards

I have an office laminator. Once I shoot a high power match this year I will have 11 cards just for myself… I plan to laminate them all, hole punch them, and put them on a ring… Because that will be so much more compact and simple than the scorebook that also... Kept my scores… All hail Jason! I'm ...

I sure hope we get there someday, K Danz. It was really nice to have that same Practiscore system at the last Steel Challenge match that I went to.

I have these rings on an 1808 EDS repeater with the rounded top that I put a hunter class barrel on. They work fine.

I'm going to try and not reply to this tread anymore. It's clear you can not see the ram line for your focus in on the few blades of grass growing in front of the chickens... do follow the link though. Seriously. Re: Big Changes

So much concern about electronic records when the vast majority of ranges we have experienced do not even have an adequate bathroom. Nasty unmaintained porta-johns, bathrooms too far away from the firing line to walk to, some just outhouses with a hole in the ground and some that stay locked where ...

Re: Big Changes

Actually... I don't have an opinion... It may be a panacea... or a death sentence... we'll find out... All I do know is the old, terrible system seemed to work fairly well for a long time... The devil you know.... Glad to see you recognize everyone may not share your viewpoint though... It's all go...
