Re: CZ 457 Varmint Precision Trainer Question

The other strange thing is the Hunter rifle must have a functional safety but the heavy rifle does not.

Re: CZ 457 Varmint Precision Trainer Question

Only one minor thing. Rule 3.1 section f says 1 and 5/16 inches is the maximum that the trigger guard can extend below the bottom line of the forearm instead of the 1 and 3/8 inches on the diagram. That is only a 1/16 of an inch difference. Hard to measure a 1/16 inch with what most juries have with...

Re: CZ 457 Varmint Precision Trainer Question

Charlie, That diagram is not current. The requirement of a maximum of 7 inches from toe to centerline of bore was removed several years ago. I do not have a CZ 457 in the Manners stock to compare. That is why I asked the question. I have never seen that diagram before and did not know it existed. Th...

Re: Are Remington products as crappy as I have read?

David, I worked at three different gun stores. At all three stores, the litmus test to quickly see if a 308 would shoot was to shoot 3 rounds of factory Federal Premium 168 grain Sierra Matchking BTHP at 100 meters. That ammo was always on the shelf and easy to grab for a quick test on used rifles t...

Re: Are Remington products as crappy as I have read?

David, more Remington 700 rifles have been produced than any other bolt action rifle in the history of mankind and is probably second only to the AR15 platform in total production numbers. A good rifle builder/machinist can build a 700 into the proverbial sewing needle driver if yours came from the ...

CZ 457 Varmint Precision Trainer Question

It is just a matter of time before someone asks this question so I will ask for them. Is the CZ 457 Varmint Precision Trainer Camo in the Manners stock meet all rules for smallbore Hunter rifle? Will it make weight? Does the stock fit both Hunter and Standard rifle dimensions in the rules? Does the ...

Re: Anschutz Options

Me personally. It would be a Holeshot 2500X Single Shot. You need to find somebody that has one, hold it and shoot it before you spend that huge amount of money. You may not like the way the custom actions feel. If you build a hunter rifle out of it, you will need to be careful with barrel length an...

Re: Anschutz Options

The current price of a Anschutz 1907-U6 barreled action with a 5018 trigger is $2085.00. That does not include a trigger guard or action screws.
Then you have to pay FFL fees and/or taxes.

Re: Anschutz Options

Anschutz was a good combination of a fairly stiff receiver, light enough action to make Hunter weight, a decent trigger and a easy to disassemble and service bolt. The thing is only Anschutz triggers will fit on Anschutz actions while there is now a huge variety of great triggers to fit the custom a...

Re: Anschutz Options

If you are buying new components to build a new rifle, it makes more sense to go with one of the many custom actions such as the Stiller 2500X now sold under a new name I think called Holeshot. The reason I say this is because the prices for Anschutz barrelled actions have skyrocketed. No difference...

I was wondering if Kathy at Good Shooting is running the same special?
Shipping from Joplin, MO. or drop shipping might be cheaper.

Re: Silhouette Rifle Rules Changes - 2018

Nobody is going to "kill" silhouette. If the NRA ever drops the silhouette "ball", there are enough dedicated people that will step up to make silhouette happen under a new organization. Silhouette is never going to die. Even if a overall sanctioning body does not exist, many of us have targets, man...

On any forum there will always be members who post while drinking. The term is "drunk posting". They post replies that they would never post if they had not been drinking. Then, you have the ones who take "pain medications". Then, you have the ones that take "pain medications" and then drink. The co...

Re: Scoped Lever action silhouette

Nope not shooting a scoped lever rifle at lever gun size targets.
MIGHT shoot if everybody shoots the 1/5 scale targets at 40, 60, 77 and 100 meters.
MIGHT SHOOT if the rules say maximum of 9x scope with no add on magnifiers allowed.
