Re: $20,000 Worth of Prizes added at Raton

Steiger, too many years of driving those buses is messing up your game. Retire. Get back on a normal sleep pattern and you will make a comeback. The highest priority should be spending maximum time with the new grandchild. Jobs and silhouette pale in comparison to grandbabies.

Friends of NRA Banquet

Julie and I just got home from the annual NRA Fundraiser banquet. As usual we had smoked chicken and plastic forks. Julie is sitting on my left and a sophisticated, thin lady wearing fancy clothes is sitting to my right. The rest of us are wearing free shirts that we got at matches. The lady to my r...

Re: $20,000 Worth of Prizes added at Raton

Another factor with Winnsboro, Ridgeway, Raton and perhaps CBC(never been to CBC) is total control of the whole facility by the match director and the fact that everything at a facility is shut down but the silhouette match. This means no quick draw pistol, 2 gun, 3 gun matches in progress on a rang...

Re: $20,000 Worth of Prizes added at Raton

A Southern National event will never happen again as far as the prize tables. It was a combination of promoter personalities and Louisiana politics. A small example of the dynamics was the LA state legislature voted to send tax payer money to the match. David can correct me if I am wrong. What are t...

Re: $20,000 Worth of Prizes added at Raton

Taps, nobody that replied on this subject is a Me! ME! type person who worries about "what prizes are in it for them" but instead merely wish to discuss methods of promoting the silhouette sport and attracting shooters to matches. There has never been an elaborate advertisement like this one distrib...

Re: $20,000 Worth of Prizes added at Raton

Having shot American skeet briefly and as cheaply as possible from 1980 to 1982, I do not understand the current popularity of the shotgun sports unless it is the prizes. Friends tell me that skeet, trap and sporting clays are very expensive compared to silhouette.

Re: $20,000 Worth of Prizes added at Raton

It is the old analogy of which came first? The chicken or the egg. In this case, which comes first? Promotion of the event as in advertising and prizes or the participants. There has to be promotion for people to know an event is taking place and something to motivate people to participate. Never go...

$20,000 Worth of Prizes added at Raton

It would be nice if Silhouette received an equal amount of prize money, attention and promotion. See the link.
I cannot find the entry fee for this trap shoot anywhere. I wonder how much it is?

Re: Morr Edge vs D3 Precision Rings

Pete is the only ring manufacturer that provides a photo of his rings cut in half to show a cross-section. You can see this photo on eBay. His rings are the only ones made out of billet aluminum with a steel clamp. I have a drawer full of broken Beeman(Sportsmatch) rings that demonstrate that Berman...

Re: 2019 NRA SB Hunter Rifle Match 3 & National Championship

Those scores were good scores because at times conditions were tough. Storms rolled through in the afternoons with the accompanying winds and low light conditions.
