So to keep beating this horse, I am relatively new to SB Silhouette. I hear horror stories about "the box". What is it, does it have merit, and how do I make sure my equipment complies with it...
Thanks in advance.
Squinty
Oh no! You had to go and bring up "the Box."

Re: How do most people dry their SS tumbling media?

Thank you everyone. I think I will purchase one of those sifter trays that sit over a 5 gallon bucket and get one of those Frankfort Arsenal magnets to retrieve my steel media. This seems the easiest for me. Whether I dry them in an oven or let them air dry is probably not a big deal since people ai...

Re: How do most people dry their SS tumbling media?

:-o
Just leave the wet media in the tumbler?

I guess I assumed everyone dried the steel media before putting it away.

Ok, thank you for the information.

How do most people dry their SS tumbling media?

I am slowly learning how to reload and this weekend I used my tumbler for the first time to clean 200 rounds of .308 brass.

How do most people dry off their stainless steel media? Put it in the oven and bake it? Boil of the water on a stove? Dry them with an hair dryer?

Dave, lets hope not.
I agree, it would suck if they abandoned competitive shooting.

Re: Gun club match

There is definitely something going on with the,NRA website. I tried to find the pdf files for targets and its gone. Called the competition hq to ask someone and got the message machine and havent heard back. They use to have a handbook for how to set up a range for silhouette along with target siz...

I looked on the Whittington Center web site. The 2019 schedule is posted. Lever Action Rifle is scheduled for July 2nd through July 5th.
Maybe I will get lucky and the small bore silhouette nationals will be held there instead of Ridgeway next year?

I doubt it very much but I can hope.

Re: What do your swinger targets look like?

Dustin,

Thank you for the compliment. My welding skills still need some work since mine used to break the welds from off center hits torquing the welds.

I like the idea of the backstop to see misses. :D

Have a great day.

Re: What do your swinger targets look like?

Be careful not to rely on that orange dot in the center since you don't get that feature at other ranges. Also, figuring out some kind of backer to spot your misses would be helpful, although I know it would complicate the setup. The idea of shooting at a dot came out of the shooting clinic after n...

Re: What do your swinger targets look like?

Dustin, the hanger on your spinners, do the fully encircle the frame or can they be removed? I also notice your animal silhouettes appear to be welded to the hangers. Do you have issues with the welds breaking over time after repeated hits? I tried to reduce the number of welds because mine would br...

What do your swinger targets look like?

Hi everyone. I am putting together a set of swinger targets for a friend of mine which got me thinking about how other people go about putting together their swingers. For those of us fortunate to have a private shooting range with a full set of targets this does not apply to you. For those of us wh...

Re: It's A Desert Out There

Hey, they got a purpose in life. Just call animal control and let them pick it up and release it. I have seen a couple at our gun Club shooting range. Don't step on them and probably won't bite you.
