Re: Why the oddball calibers in high power silhouette?

I knew McAlice was peculiar, but now I think he likes concussions.

Thanks for the laugh! By match end you'd have a concussion!

Re: CZ 452 Silhouette Accuracy Tuning

Transmission fluid is NOT an oil its hydraulic fluid. Do not use it. It will most likely eat your stock. ATF seems like an odd choice all around to prep threads for torquing, since it's also used in the recipe for "Ed's Red", a fairly potent cleaning solution. Is it intended as a degreaser? If so, ...

Re: CZ 452 Silhouette Accuracy Tuning

Mechanics often use anti-seize before torquing bolts, but it's more common to clean and de-grease action bolts before torquing them.

Re: Practice Rifle

Never talk a buddy out of buying another rifle. Nothing wrong with a backup rifle. If you have children or grandchildren you won't have it long anyway. We all know how expensive, time consuming, and fussy the setup process for a good silhouette rifle is, so unless you have your own machine shop and...

This is why I dislike Hogue stocks - the forearm is so flimsy that it's practically impossible to free float the barrel.

Re: How well do commercial ....

FWIW, both of my sons bought Tikka T3x's (in - uh - 30-06) for deer hunting, and absolutely love them. They're very accurate, very attractive in traditional blue and walnut, and surprisingly smooth. A really great value.

Some Match Directors may question the interchangeable spacers, since the the rules do specify "fixed".

Re: Tikka T3 verse T3X

Nothing major has changed, and I can't even say Tikka fixed any bugs, but then, unless you count the plastic bolt shroud, I never heard a complaint about the T3 anyway. Several of the most common modifications, made to T3's by individual shooters, are now factory features, so the T3x is an increment...

Timney makes a good trigger, and you made a great choice. You should really do well with that rifle.

What model Leupold are you running?
