Thanks Pete but no threads on this one. Anschutz 54. Does that make a difference?

Re: Any Scope Actually Made In USA?

.....China can produce a great scope if they had the desire..... I do not share your confidence. I spent a year in China as a consultant to the #1 avionics engineering/manufacturing company in China. Unless there is strict and heavy handed oversite from an outside company, they find a way to cheese...

Cost to set back and rechamber a 1907 barrel?

I looked in the chamber of my rifle with a bore scope. Pretty disappointed with what I saw. I looks as though the reamer was well past its date to be resharpened or retired. It was purchased new from Killough as a 1907-U6 barreled action. What should it cost to have the barrel set back and rechamber...

Re: Any Scope Actually Made In USA?

A couple of years ago I was asked to photograph a large warehouse facility just outside of St. Louis. The factory there had produced aluminum scope tubes for Leupold - the company had shut down when Leupold moved the manufacturing to China. I just bought a new, in the box, Leupold guaranteed Gold R...

Re: What 6mm/243 bullets are you using on Rams?

I use 115grain D-Tac bullets for rams and 95gr sierra matchkings for the closer targets although I'm thinking about going to 107's because I've lost a couple of pigs. Velocity is 2650fps with 115's and 2750fps with 95's from my 6x47 Remington. I've heard that the 115's are made by sierra for David ...

Re: What 6mm/243 bullets are you using on Rams?

She switched to 6br. I dont know why, you would think she would get pressure to use the lapua round since she is on team lapua. Anyway she won like crazy with 6br last year I have it on good authority that Kathy uses Berger 115's on Rams. Whether she uses the Target or Hunting version, I don't know...

Silhouette in Indiana

I saw on the map of silhouette ranges that there was a range in southeastern Indiana. Is that legit? Are there matches being held there?

Re: Any Scope Actually Made In USA?

OK, show of hands. Are the 'gold ring' scopes made in the usa? Leupold scopes displayed at the White House at "Made in America" event, July 17th, 2017. http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2017/10/leupold-scopes-displayed-at-white-house-made-in-america-event/ “It was an honor to represent our 700-pl...

Re: 6BR vs .243 Winchester

SteveD my statement was aimed(pun intended) at new shooters who don't reload yet. Yes any reload is far less expensive than any factory ammo but the .243 win is the least expensive ammo you can buy off the shelf and the 100 gr. bullets will (with the wind just right) take down a ram. Ahh, missed th...

Re: 6BR vs .243 Winchester

After shooting the 6BR for a while and testing a bunch of different bullets on Rams I have a little to add to this discussion. The #1 advantage of the 6BR is that any 95 to 108gr bullet you pick that is of even moderate quality will work for C, P & T and do so with the least recoil of any Silhouette...

From the NRA Rifle Silhouette rules book;

"A rimmed case loaded with a round or flat nosed bullet must be used."

Re: What 6mm/243 bullets are you using on C, P & T?

The Berger 105 BT is shorter than other bullets of that weight, and the Berger stability calculator says 1.3ish stability in 9.125" twist factory Remington barrel (at Phoenix AZ). I don't shoot it yet but am looking into while I wait for a barrel to arrive. You should be ok. This twist rate thing h...

Re: What 6mm/243 bullets are you using on Rams?

I know you need a 1 in 8 or 1 in 7 twist for any bullets that way 103 grains or higher. What about the .243 factory rifles that have a factory barrel with a 1 in 10 twist? They need to shoot a bullet that weighs 100 grains or less. I haven't seen any one mention the Sierra #1220 100 grain BTSP bull...
