Re: New vs Once Fired brass

For a 30-30 with open sights, you are not going to see (no pun intended, LOL) a difference.

"New" 22lr has enormously different levels of 'accurate'.

Will a 6mm even knock over a ram?
I have seen it happen but hitting the Ram seems to be an important prerequisite.

I’m using a Sierra 110 MK in my 6BR. The BC is .617. I will be shooting my first match with them at Ben Avery this Sunday. I report back later.
I hope I hit some!!!

That would be greatly appreciated Al.

Re: What 6mm/243 bullets are you using on Rams?

Sierra does make the DTAC 115. It is one of the bullets I have in my back pocket if all else fails and I want to avoid going to 6.5BR. Rumor has it that it will perform adequately with an 8 twist barrel. I think the ELD-X is supposed to be similar to the A-Max in ballistic performance but more heavi...

What 6mm/243 bullets are you using on Rams?

If you are shooting any 6mm/243 cartridge such as 6BR, 6 Creedmore, 243 Win, 6mm Remington, 6 CX, 6X47 Lapua or any other cartridge or variant, what bullet are you using on Rams? What other bullets have you tried? Please share any experiences, results, thoughts, postulations, future plans and snide ...

Re: Other SHOT Show news

There is/was also a Copperhead. I got a Predator for HP Standard. That was his mid lock up action. A friend of mine has a great shooting Copperhead. I think it discontinued right around the time the 2500X released. I've never gotten to see any of his centerfire actions in person. I always plan on b...

Re: Other SHOT Show news

When I talked to him at the SHOT Show he said he was still working there as part of the sale agreement and should finish up soon. I was thinking of the completion of all obligations as completing the sale. Jerry wanted to keep the building so the action (centerfire I guess) business moved to anothe...

Other SHOT Show news

Jerry Stiller of Stiller Actions has sold the action business to a group led by Dave Kiff of Pacific Tool and Gauge. PT&G has always made the bolts for Stiller so I don't expect much to change. Does anyone other than me use a Stiller action for Silhouette? Stiller Actions https://stilleractions.com/...

Re: Leupold Custom Shop expanding features

I still do not feel that the Silhouette community has the best scope optimized for Rifle Silhouette. Silhouette is a small market. Overall weight restrictions limit what our scopes can weigh. We also have some dimensional limitations such as overall length and the diameter of the objective. We need...

I'd like to try something like this but a smaller, like 1/2 or 3/8 min circle.

A 1/2 or 3/8 MOA dot is pretty small, I would think a 1/2 or 3/8 MOA circle would be tiny to the point of useless.
Interesting. You may be on to something. A 1 minute circle might be more useful.

Re: Leupold Custom Shop expanding features

I may be misinformed. I am/was under the impression that Leupold scopes without the "Gold Ring" had sourcing from outside the US. The poor quality I saw with several non "Gold Ring" scopes made it believable to me that they were made in China. From the Leupold website; 'Leupold riflescopes are all d...

Leupold Custom Shop expanding features

I had the opportunity at the SHOT Show to talk to a rep from Leupold. I talked to him about some problems I had with Leupold AR scopes, that the two lines of the reticle were not perpendicular and the reticle was rotated as well. Two problems. And that I had sent the scope back twice to have it corr...
