What GREAT reasons not to shoot those disciplines!
But it makes a great incentive to shoot in order as per the rules. I once had a veteran shooter suddenly shoot from right to left. He hit all 5, but only scored an X on #3 because that was the only one he hit in order. :))

Re: rule when shooting out of order

I still shoot IHMSA. As far as I know, the penalty rule is still in effect for IHMSA events. So yes, a hit target to the right of the intended target is a double miss in IHMSA. I understand other disciplines may vary. Also, in most matches I attend, if the wind blows down a target, the shooter can f...

Re: Silhouette in Indiana

Once upon a time, they shot high power at Redbrush. I have a friend in Indy that goes to St Louis, so I don't think anywhere in In shoots HP.

Re: Silhouette in Indiana

Perhaps the Southern Indiana R&P club.

Danville Conservation Club just west of Indy shoots Smallbore Rifle on 4th Sat each month.

Riley Conservation Club shoots IHMSA handgun on 3rd Sun, on east side of Terre Haute.

Both clubs have website info.

Re: Hunter Pistol and the Future

Yeah, I didn't really understand that move as well. I think NRA did go to 1/2 scale chicken for .22's instead of 3/8 for 40m but that complicated things for a lot of ranges like ours that were holding dual sanction. We had to put in a 40 yard berm and buy another set of chickens, then things just go...

Re: Need your input reworking a SB range

jbzeus- Send me a pm with your email address. We added a dedicated 22 range recently, rebuilt our firing line, added sand to the berms making them largely maintenance free, etc. BTW- where are you located? geography makes a difference. what works in high desert of Arizona/Utah won't work in humid cl...

Re: Where to look for rifles?

There is a FWB Field target gun (pcp) with extras already set up in the Indiana Gun Owners forum. Sorry, I can't cut & paste from my phone, but the site is easy to navigate & you don't have to register to read it. Rifle is not mine.

Re: Rifle cant

I shoot pistol silh with a xp, high rise scope mount, and 15x rifle scope. We're not allowed to touch our arms or gun to our body. My gun is canted significantly to avoid touching my chest or accidently touching arms to ribs. Scope is canted so I have a level crosshair. Not an issue, just shoot it, ...

Re: Lionel's Load for .357

I have nothing on your 357 load request. but I did shoot a 30 Carbine from a TC with 110 grain bullet Hornady spire points and running 5 grains of 700X (a shotgun powder we had left over from the late 1960's). A mild load, perhaps 1.5-2 MOA, would not knock over 100 meter big bore pigs. Used it with...

Re: Got paint?

The Steel Challenge shooters at our club swear by "Steel Spray Paint" or some such similar name. It costs $5 per can, but they only use it at the start of the day to cover the whole target. After that, they use the Walmart stuff. I've seen it in use, it is indeed amazing and the coverage from it exc...

I bought a couple hats from here when he came to our smallbore shoot. Excellent quality. I like the simple design of the 4 animals, says it all.

Re: mil dot scopes with rimfire

I have only recently started shooting rifle silhouette, but I've shot a lot of handgun silhouette with unlimited standing guns. I have always used a duplex reticle, mostly because it was common and served my purpose. The dot obviously works for a lot of folks. If you're trying to "watch the spot, no...
