Update
Hunter Pistol / Cowboy Rifle Silhouette matches should now show correctly on the calendar.

Shelly has assured me the NRA registrations should be in my hot little hand by time for the first match. She was extremely helpful, so thanks again Glen.

You are welcome sir. We will be there , provided the road isn't flooded. Can you please send me a good e-mail or phone number in a message so I can contact you in advance to see if the road is good? I appreciate you and hope you will consider coming to our range for one of our CLA/Hunter Pistol matches.

With thanks to DustinFlint, I have been able to confirm that the NRA has approved the match for 04/02/2016, so we are on for our first match of the 2016 season!

Will there be a match this weekend ? We will be w/o grandson for a few days and a road trip and smallbore match might be what we need. We will only come back if you shoot with us...or let me run the second relay so you can shoot.

And now I have to retract that. Because of the heat, I need to cancel tomorrow’s match. This heat is a killer, we don't have a cooling shed, and I don't want to get anyone hurt. Hope to see you in September.

I understand. Some of us would make for some ugly Jerky. Take care in the heat.

Im glad you asked Glen. Five if us from Tulsa were headed out tomorrow morning at 6AM to Old Fort. It's to bad they had to cancel for the dang heat in our area. Guess I'll reload some high power rounds instead.

I was looking forward to shooting with you again. I have tried to "drum up" some folks to shoot at the Old Fort Gun Club. Maybe next month. Please work on getting your small-bore match in Tulsa on a different day next year. Our range is so busy and we're locked in on our weekend . We have a group that want to shoot small-bore silhouette but your day is on our CLA day.

Earlier today I was told that, effective immediately, the Old Fort Gun Club was closing their silhouette program.

I can't say for sure, of course, and I don't mind going public with my ignorance if it is that, .... but probably they figure they can draw more competitors with CLA because of the lower cost of equipment (or maybe they just don't have enough regular silhouette shooters). There's no denying that "regular" rifle silhouette requires a substantial outlay; and while I suspect the cost of lever action equipment is going up, it's still cheaper (I think) and a lot of folks think it's just a whole lot of fun. Many of the Washington state shooters are doing both. I would do both if I could afford both the money and the time. But I'm a retired educator, which reads as "impoverished!" I consider myself more than fortunate in doing what I do.

OnaginOffagin;

OFGC already has everything for silhouette matches - targets, target stands, and berms - since the program has existed for approximately 20 years, so there was no new cost to the club. But local attendance has been zero, and the board feels these changes will be of greater benefit to the club.
