1712 weight w/ scope

Post by Diamond Paul »

Any idea what an Anschutz 1712fwt will weight with Weaver Grand Slam bases and Burris High Zee rings on a B&L 6-24X40 scope? :?:

Close....

1.26 pounds Figure scope at 20.2 ozs (I have the 8-32's and they are almost 23)

7.28 or so pounds for rifle have seen different specs BUT you got the McMillian stock, right? Call Homer but that should save around 6 ozs...

.1875 pounds for Marv's base/ rings or bkl set up... both at or less than 3 ozs

or

Weaver steel bases and burris = 6.4 ozs (I have a low set handy - highs will weigh more...)

I would skip the Weaver base / Burris set up and go BKL / Marvin UNLESS you have more than the 6 ozs I mentioned to spare...

Like I said...close...LOL

Rifle weight

Post by Diamond Paul »

Yeah, it's not the best option, maybe, but I can't get a set of Marvin's rings/bases until I know exactly what height I want, etc. I need something I can shoot with until I'm flush with $ and know what specs to give Marvin. SOOOOOOO, once again, will I make the weight? I defer to your excellent store of knowledge on this matter. :?

What was I thinking....

Post by GeoNLR »

I had the "new post alarm" turned off for the night....LOL

I just hung up with Homer and had him weigh one of your rifles

6.64 Pounds for Rifle

1.26 Pounds for Scope

= 7.9 pounds or .6 pounds left for base and rings 9.6 ozs ...

.9 ozs for a mag = 8.7 ozs left for base and rings...

I would think you are good to go with an oz or two to spare with the set up you mention. Brownell's says the z rings weigh 3 ozs a set... the lows I have are 4ozs..LOL. Bases are 1.4 ozs or so- would not think any way in hell the highs weigh 4 ozs more than the lows...

I can promise you can make it with the BKL's ($20 or so) or the Millet angle loc ($25 or so). If you would like to borrow a set millets that weigh ~ 4 ozs or less, e-mail me your address ChickenGeorgeAR @ yahoo.com and they will be on the way.

Scope Rings

Post by Diamond Paul »

The reason I opted for these rings is the same reason people want Marvin's setup: built in slope. I keep reading that you might need slope built in for the B&L scope, cause it has limited elevation adjustment. The Burris rings have the + and - inserts to give me more MOA adjustment in the scope. Unless I've misread, the BKL setups don't have this feature, unless they do this on a custom basis, which surely wouldn't be quick. Am I correct :?: :?

Sorry Diamond Paul
Chicken got me Hi Jacking Your thread.

So I will make amends.
I like the Burris rings because you can also correct any windage errors by rotating the inner rings. So you can center both Elevation and Windage. Just remember to rotate each ring in the opposite direction to each other.

Let's go back (just you and I, LOL) and bet "retroactivitly" on the air rifle competition in Winnie, ..LOL... And before you start whining, I only owned (1) air rifle at that time...LOL

Sporter Air Rifle Aggregate
AAA 51 Carpenter Dave 23 28
AA 52 Rhode George 28 24

Target Air Rifle - Aggregate
AA 51 Carpenter Dave 21 30
AA 52 Rhode George 27 25

Open Air Rifle - Aggregate
AAA 48 Carpenter Dave 27 21
A 49 Rhode George 23 26

Man, we suck!

It would apear that you "owe" me (3) agg matches and (1) overall x $2.00 = $8.00

LMAO... I at this point I am prepared to shoot a solid 15/40 average this year when we "meet" up... I always fold like a cheap suit
