Sako Finnfire range Stock Legal???

Post by saikatana »

Hello all;
Currently shooting a Sako Finnfire in varmit stock and was thinking of switching to a Range stock. My question is with the large area
in front of the trigger guards height too tall to meet the 2.25" height requirement?? At 6' 4' and 245 lbs. I think I can get a better cheek weld
with the Range stock but do not want to drop the money and find it is illegal.
thanks for any help

not legal for either class, if it is used you could modiy it and use it for standard. i dont have the rule book in front of me, but i recall the stock cannot go below the trigger guard either, neat looking stock though.

cheers,

how much you talking? there are loads of options. macmillians can be inletted for a finnfire , could get a wooster or pharr.

could for a small amount of money get a microfit stock and finnish it yourself.
does your rifle have a bull barrel?

The stocks sell for $550.00 but Beretta had them on sale for $279, without a butt plate. My rifle has a Sandberg taper
Lilja, a Jewel trigger and a T-24 Weaver in a pillar bedded Varmit type Sako Stock. Shoots nice but a little hard to keep a good cheek weld with that stock and my size. HAve BKL riser under a set of Weaver high mounts. Maybe try raising the scope would work. Thanks for the help!!!!

I shoot with a fellow who uses that gun for his standard rifle with that stock. He has made some modifactions to it to make it legal. He is a machinist/woodworker so he cut down the area in front of the trigger to meet the rules and has skeletonized 8-x the check weld to drop some weight. Looks really cool. B-)

I no longer have the gun but still have this stock. The gun had a Jewell trigger so the bedding will not accept the factor trigger. Becasue it is a thumbhole stock it could only be used in standard rifle. Message me if you are interested.

Hey saikatana, you should probably buy a lottery ticket because this might be a seriously lucky day for you. A wonderful stock already setup for a Sako just showed up in the Marketplace section at a ridiculously low price. See it here:

Stock For Sale

I'm actually thinking about buying it just to try to adapt it to another rifle, even if that would make it ugly. The $300 wouldn't even buy the base stock without any inletting now, much less the buttpad, bottom metal, bedding, etc.

That looks like a nice rig. Not legal for this game, but it looks pretty balanced.

Sako Range modified to be silhouette legal by Marvin Pearson. It was an absolutely beautiful job.
