2016 Match Info

Carolyn and I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We're already hard at work on the plans for 2016. I'm happy to report that the dates for our matches at Ridgway have been reserved, and we have some exciting news.

Mark your calendar now!

Sunday April 24 - 40 Shot Match
Sunday May 29 - 40 Shot Match
Saturday June 25 & Sunday June 26 - PA State Championship, 60 Shot Formats
Sunday July 24 - 40 Shot Match
Sunday August 28 - 40 Shot Match
Saturday September 24 & Sunday September 25 - 1st Annual Eastern NATIONAL Championship, 40 Shot Formats
Sunday October 30 - 40 Shot Match

1st Annual Eastern National Match

Yes, you read that right. In conversations with the competitive shooting division of the NRA, we decided that it would be a good idea to hold Western Nationals at Raton and Eastern Nationals at Ridgway. That creates the possibility of an additional match in 2017 and beyond, the East Meets West Championship. Stay tuned for details.
Feel free to contact me any time if you have questions or suggestions. See you at Ridgway!

Sincerely,
Craig Duncan

Hello Hermit,
Why couldn't it?
In conversations with the NRA, they were very receptive to the idea.
Shoot me an email or give me a call if you'd like to talk.

Hello fellow Silhouette Shooters,

In response to many requests from competitors we've extended the dates of the Eastern Nationals.
The match will now run from September 22nd to the 25th.
This will allow us to have two days for scope rifles and two days for iron sights.

You know Brent,
I need competitors input for that.
I'm an iron sight shooter, but I'm also a match director and want to make it a good experience for all involved.
So, I'm open to suggestions.

Raton runs scope first to keep it close to .22bpcr. There are .22 shooters that won't shoot iron bpcr (e.g., Crosno, Wasserberger and many others) so they put scope first to accommodate them. I don't think it matters otherwise. But your shooters are the guys to ask. I'll leave it blank for now.

Brent,
We have many guys / ladies that shoot Iron Man / Woman.
I think that it will depend on competitors ability to secure vacation / travel time to attend the match.
I want to accommodate all the shooters we can.
I'm not going to be like the same old same old and dictate to the competitors.
As match director, I want the shooters to tell me what they want and together we'll figure out a way to make it work.

2016 Match Dates
Winter is drawing to a close and the shooting season will soon be upon us. 2016 promises to be an exciting year for the Black Powder Cartridge Sports!

As many of you are aware, Jim Kidwell has stepped up to the plate and will be in charge of the Western Nationals this year. Kudos to you Jim! It's great to see the NRA giving control and support of our matches back to the competitors.

Eastern National BPCR Championship

Which brings us to the brand new Eastern BPCR Silhouette Nationals to be held at Ridgway on September 22-25. This will be an NRA registered match # 2016138667.
The first two days will be Iron Sights, with Scope following on Saturday and Sunday. Here is the complete 2016 Ridgway Match Schedule.
Early Registration until July 31, 2016
Early registration for the Eastern National is now open! Match fees are $50 per day per rifle. Fees will go up on August 1, so register soon! Just print and mail this Early Registration Form.

If you can't access the form, give me a shout and I'll mail it to you. Forms will also be available at our monthly matches.
Additional Information
The range will be open for practice on the Tuesday and Wednesday preceding the match. Be aware that we will have to share the range with any club members that wish to shoot during practice days, but it'll give us a chance to convert them! A BBQ is planned for Saturday night and is included in the match fee. If you have a favorite recipe, bring it along and share it with others.

The awards ceremony will be held Sunday afternoon, after all the smoke has cleared and we've tallied the results. Winners will be awarded medals, certificates, and pins. We're lining up some exciting prizes! All prizes will be awarded via a lottery system. So no matter how you shoot, if your name is drawn you could win primers, brass, gunpowder, a rifle, and more!
Feel free to contact me any time if you have questions or suggestions. See you at Ridgway!

Sincerely,
Craig Duncan

Craig,

We had a two day (Silhouette/MidRange) weekend and many were discussing attending your match. Good luck and thank you for what you have done.................

Well Jim,

Aside from typing on the internet and making phone calls I haven't really done anything yet.

All I can do is run it up the flag pole and see who salutes.

It should be a wicked good time though.
I wonder how many new National Records we'll be able to set.
We broke three last September.

Eastern Nationals Question and Answer Thread

Postby 45bpcr » Mon Mar 07, 2016 6:29 pm
Being a new venue there's been a bit of work to get this set up but it's a go.

I guess I need to know who has questions about what.
You only have one chance to make a first impression.

Are you concerned about lodging?
Are you concerned about the range at Ridgway?
Are you concerned about travel to the range?
Are you concerned about NRA record and score keeping?

We're going to have a 4 day match tipping over steel.
There's no paper punching at Ridgway.

Iron sights will have the first two days, Thursday and Friday, the 22nd and 23rd.
Scope will have Saturday and Sunday to strut their stuff on the 24th and 25th.

Sunday afternoon, after the smoke has cleared we'll award Trophy's, Certificates and Prizes.
Saturday night we're having a BBQ at the main clubhouse.

The range will be open for practice on Tuesday the 20th and Wednesday the 21st.
We also shoot in the evening after the Match's are over.
So bring your other favorite rifle and let's shoot for fun.
There's "Homer", a half scale Buffalo at 980 yards.
And the Coyotes out there at 1000 yards, you can see them in your sights, laughing at you.

There will be several positions available for shooters who wish to shoot from the seated position, Those will be in front of the clubhouse and will not have the infamous Ridgway bars in front of them.
There will also be a wheel chair accessible position available.
Please call or write if your a shooter who would like this.
