BPCR Eastern Nationals Update
September 2016
We're ready - are you? Have your ammo loaded? The 2016 Eastern National is right around the corner! Carolyn and I will be leaving NH next Sunday and should be at Ridgway by noon on Monday. Monday-Wednesday, the range will be available for practice whenever we aren't doing range work. And the more help we get, the more the range will be available.
Match Info
We'll be weighing rifles and checking cross sticks.
We're going to be picking names from a jar each day for which bank of animals you'll shoot. We'll run 3 relays. Folks that want to shoot together can sign up as a squad of 2 or 3. If you're solo, we'll find you a squad to join. Decide among your squad which relay you'll shoot.
We'll be able to "dig in" each day, but plan on moving to a different bank the next day.
We'd prefer to have scoring done by designated scorers. The NRA isn't giving us any manpower, so we could use some volunteers. If we don't have enough scorers, your spotter will keep your score. Both the shooter and scorer will sign off on each animal shot.
Camping
If you're planning to camp in an RV, bring a long electrical cord. But the circuit breakers trip easily - it's a rifle range, not a campground - so plan to avoid using a/c, microwaves, or other devices that draw heavy current. Wouldn't hurt to bring a generator if you have one. I'll bring a 3K unit that will support a couple RVs. Potable water is available, but there is no dump station.
Fun Stuff
Ridgway is a 1000-yard silhouette range. After the official shooting is over for the day, we like to play. We welcome different types of rifles, so bring your Mil-Surps, antiques, black guns, bench guns, etc. We can tip over crows, groundhogs, bobcats and coyotes at distances from 850 to 1000 yards. There's also Homer. He's a 1/2 scale buffalo out at 980 yards. The range stays open until the sun goes down.
Last but not least, don't forget the BBQ on Friday evening. The club is providing food and beverages at the main club house. There are rumors that special commemorative adult beverages will be available. And that's when we'll have the drawings for prizes, including a very beautiful 22LR-caliber rifle made especially for us by CPA Rifles.
See you soon!
Sincerely,
Craig Duncan
