Marbles rear sight

Post by glen ring »

I have a Winchester 1885 22lr. It came with a marbles tang rear sight. Is that a Legal sight for 22 BPCR? I did have it challenged at my very first match.

Yes it is, but it ain't a very good one. You need to dial elevations MUCH more than you do in CLA and that's just not viable iwth a Marbles.

And then there is windage. If you are shooting well, by the time you are done with turkeys, the windage knobs on your soule sight may be beginning to glow a dull red. You gotta have serious windage capabilities. Marbles have NONE.

You cannot beat an MVA Schuetzen soule for .22 bpcr. Buy one, cry now, thank me later. Really.

Brent
I bought a Baldwin sight. I'm trying to put together a back-up rifle for Jeanne and I. The Grand Monkey has fun shooting our 1885 here at the house so next year he'll probably be ready for a match. I may start selling my lever guns because I like the BPCR stuff better I think.

Don't sell your levers yet. Just add the BPCR. Choice is good. :)
