Our first match of the year is in the books.

We had 21 shooters in attendance.
Some up classed and some of us shot like poo.

Complete results are listed below

I shot one of my worst scores ever.
A personal best!
But I had a good time with friends.

I did hit everything I shot at in practice on Saturday with my trusty old 40-65 and my new to me 38-50
Go figure.

Gordon Clefton shot a 26 with Greg's old 40-70 Sharps and up-classed.
Perhaps you shouldn't have sold it my friend.

It was good to get back down to Ridgway and shoot BPCR Silhouette.
I love shooting there.
A man needs to stand on the firing line at Ridgway and look out.

1000 yards of steel targets.

I've decided to step down as Match Director and announced it during the shooters
meeting.
I feel like the incoming youngsters have better idea's and can bring a fresh face to the sport.
Our sport needs new ideas.

22 BPCR has been talked about a lot at Ridgway
I'd love to see it happen, but I'm not going to run it.
Ridgway has the facilities and steel to do it.

Yours Truly

Hello Folks,

The May BPCR Silhouette Match is in the books.

We had a beautiful weekend.
No rain.
Little wind.
Consistent sunlight.
Mild temperatures.

We had the type of conditions that made you search for excuses if you had CHS.
Which, some of us did.

Brian Chilson out shot everyone.
Brian spent some time with other competitors fixing rifles and couching shooters
Brian has a penchant for passing on his knowledge and gives it freely.

There were a few outstanding successes.
John Sweka Sr shot very well with his CPA.

We had Sara Letham using a borrowed rifle shooting for her first time.
Her score was good, and her Dad was worried.

Evan Short was in 3rd place in iron sights.

A young man by the name of Joe Hemm was hot on his heels.

Folks spoke about the match, how fast it went and how comfortable it was to shoot at Ridgway.

We Credit Sam Marshall, our line caller, and the Ridgway target setters for that.

We ran three relays.

The match startled at 9AM and was done by 1:30

Our complete results are listed below.

Sorry to be sending this newsletter out so late.

I wanted to wait until I had news on the camping situation at Ridgway.
Camping WILL be allowed at the range for our match in June for any and all who wish to stay on the High Power range.

There's also lodging at The Royal Inn and up in St. Marys.

http://www.royalinnpa.com/

http://gunnerspa.com/

https://www.bestwestern.com/

Here's a list of restaurants in town.

http://www.ridgwaychamber.com/dine.html

The Summit has wings, more variety than you can imagine.
Fox's make excellent pizza
The Royal will serve you an incredible Prime Rib.

This month will be the PA State Championship
It's an NRA sanctioned match.

We'll be shooting 60 shots per day for score so folks will be able to earn a 15 chicken pin.
I have plenty of them.
Make sure you bring plenty of ammo.

I'll have the range open for practice Friday for those who wish to practice or need to get sight settings.

Both Saturday and Sunday the range will be open at 8:00 for 40 minutes of practice.
We'll have a mandatory shooters meeting at 8:45 and the match will start at 9:00 AM sharp.

When tipping our wonderful target setters make sure you tip for each day, not all on the first day.
Sometimes we don't have the same group of kids each day.

There will be printed awards for each day plus an aggregate award for the weekend.
We also have some nice donations from our sponsors.

Feel Free to email me with any questions you may have.

Hello Folks,

Our July match is just over a week away, Sunday the 22nd.
This month we'll be shooting 40 rounds for score.

The range will be open for practice all day Saturday the 21st.
I'll be arriving Friday afternoon to get it all set up.

Some news about the club,

There's a 3-D archery range being built at Ridgway.
The club will be pouring concrete on the High Power range the length of the firing line, no more lying in puddles when it rains.
There will be room for cross sticks directly in front of the rail.

It's nice to belong to a club that's supported and run by members.

There's camping at the range and the new dump station fo RV's may be operable by now.

For Lodging and Dining please refer to this link if you don't already have your favorites.

I enjoy our one day matches. It gives one time to socialize a bit more and get in some shooting the day before.

I hope to see you at Ridgway!

Hello Folks,

In just ten more days we'll be gathering at the Ridgway Rifle Club for our August match.
Match day is Sunday the 26th and it will be a 40 shot event.
Practice day will be Saturday the 25th.

New happenings at the club are the new 3-D archery range and newly a newly cemented firing line on the 200 yard range.
I haven't heard when the High Power range will be completed yet.

We still haven't anyone volunteer to be Match Director for the 2019 season yet.
Many folks have offered their help in running the matches, so if your afraid of "going it alone" it won't happen.

Yours Truly,

Hello Folks,

We're one week away from the 2018 BPCR Eastern Regional at the Ridgway Rifle Club.

We've changed the format somewhat for the match.
We'll be shooting 60 shots for score on Saturday and 40 shots for score on Sunday.

I feel this will allow folks to get on the road at a reasonable hour on Sunday after giving away all the trophies, medals, awards and prizes.

There will be trophies and medals for the top 3 shooters in Iron Sights and Scope.
The trophies will be unique and are hand made here in NH.
The prize table will be well populated and we'll do our customary name drawing so folks can pick what they want.

We WILL break for lunch on Saturday.
Mark C called me last night and has generously volunteered to host a Bison BBQ lunch for us all. I've never had Bison BBQ before but if it's as good as his Bison Jerky it should be a treat. I'll pick up some potato salad and fixin's to go along with it.

The Range will be open all day Friday for sight settings and practice.
On Saturday and Sunday, the range will be open from 8AM to 8:40 for practice.
We'll have our mandatory shooters meeting at 8:45 and the match will start at 9AM.

This will be an NRA Sanctioned match.

I'd like to hold an informal meeting after the awards on Saturday to discuss the 2019 season with shooters.
We still need to find a Match Director for 2019 if we want to continue to shoot BPCR Silhouette at Ridgway.
It'd be ashamed to see it end after 25 years.

I'd like to see future matches run by a team or committee as I feel the matches could be further improved by doing it this way.
Many folks have volunteered their help but there still needs to be a "Head Honcho" so to speak.

A couple of folks, with much reservation, have said they "might" do it.
It is a big job and I feel it's to much for one person to handle successfully.
Hopefully we can hash something out Saturday.

I need to switch gears here for a bit.
As I sit out on the deck writing this, it's a sunny autumn afternoon here on the ocean in NH.
The waves are at the seawall and folks are enjoying the day.

I can't help but think of the folks down south and what they're about to go through.
Perhaps we should find a moment to say a quick prayer for their well being and safety.

As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

I hope to see you all at Ridgway!

Yours Truly,
Craig Duncan

Craig,

I hope you find someone to continue your program at Ridgeway. Kudos to someone like you and your wife who would
drive that far at your own expense to make it an enjoyable event for others.

Now it's up to others to make it enjoyable for you.

Good luck..................... :)

Hello Folks,

The 2018 Eastern Regional is in the books.
28 competitors came to the Ridgway Rifle Club to shoot some steel and enjoy the camaraderie.

First I'd like to thank the folks who donated to our prize table.

Swiss Powder 25lbs of 1 1/2F
Green Mountain Barrels 2 $50.00 gift certificates
MVA 1 $100.00 gift certificate
SPG 2 certificates for lube
Walters Wads Several bags of fiber wads
Roto Metals Several bags of alloy
Distant Thunder Sight inserts
Rich McKinnis Handmade wooden mallet

Mark C put on a great lunch Saturday with his Bison BBQ creation.

Special thanks to Brian Allocca of Bravo Alpha Flags for the wonderful flag trophies.

We shot 60 rounds for score Saturday and 40 rounds on Sunday.

Saturday started out on the chilly side and remained fairly cloudy throughout the day.
Sunday dawned very foggy, but it burned off before the match started and was a pleasant day.

Shooting conditions for the weekend were nearly perfect and more than a few 15 pins were earned.
Saturday night we were treated to a spectacular sunset.

At the end of the match we had 2 shooters up-class.
Doug Whitmore went from B to A.
Bob Clipp went from A to AA.
Good shooting guys, you earned it.

We still don't have a volunteer for a full time match director yet.
We have several who have spoken about part time match directing though, perhaps we can work with that.
We have one more match to figure it out.

The complete results are listed below.
I've also attached some photos of the winners and competitors.

Our next and final match of the year will be a 40 shot match on Sunday October 28th

Hope to see you there.

2018 was certainly a good year.

The 2019 season looks bright as well.

I'll write more about this in the follow up news letter after the match.

The range will be open for practice all day Saturday the 27th.
There will be a 40 minute practice session the morning of the match to verifiy sight settings.
