Hot & Dry - blow tube no good

Post by Outback Mick »

Folks
Casually shooting BPCR yesterday it was noticed that the blow tube was absolutely useless, no matter how hard we tried no moisture was forthcoming to keep soft our fouling. Gave up eventually and just reduced our strings to five. Finished for the day and went inside for a cold beer. Noticed that the remote thermometer was registering 56.4 C (133.5 F) in the sun ground temperature. We figured that might explain our lack of blow tube success when you needed it most with a very hot barrel.

Has anyone else had this sort of problem? Our first thought would be to carry a small spray bottle of water and give a small squirt down thew tube then blow. Has anyone tried this in real hot dry conditions? Any other suggestions - it may seem a shock as most of you blokes are deep in the white stuff at the moment......

Right now at the bottom of the world it is a bit hot......

Regards,
Mick

Mick,
Wiping always works. No matter how hot. Highly recommended. Throw the blowtubes in the trash.
