Weatherby Vanguard 2
I am looking at two rifles , Both In 7mm-08
One is a Weatherby vanguard2 and the other is a Remington 700 cdl sf.
The Weatherby is about $500.00 and the remington is about $1000.00
Do any of you have experience with the Vanguard 2 and would I be better off buying the weather by and spending the extra cash on Components.
Thanks
Glen

If it's for silhouette, the vanguard stock looks better suited. There is also the tikka t3 forest in between those price ranges, also has a stock more suited for silhouette.

I'll second the Tikka.

Re: Weatherby Vanguard 2
I bought the Vanguard 2. I like the fit of the stock and the trigger is supposedly much better than the stock Remington's. I took the extra money my wife allocated and I'm buying brass and bullets. There are no HP silhouette matches near me so I'm going to shoot my first Highpower match at the nationals in Raton. Thanks Kevin for the top secret load data.

I mounted a Vortex Diamondback HP 3x12 on the vanguard. The first load was an old one using 4759 to push a 139spbt at about 2100fps. Very mild and the vanguard guarantee of under an inch is true. The trigger is between 2 3/4 pounds, but breaks good. The entire rig weighs right at 9 pounds so I'll need to watch the weight. The entire rig is under $800.00.
