  1. Never talk a buddy out of buying another rifle.
  2. Nothing wrong with a backup rifle. If you have children or grandchildren you won't have it long anyway.
  3. We all know how expensive, time consuming, and fussy the setup process for a good silhouette rifle is, so unless you have your own machine shop and skills (I'm thinking of you, Bob) it makes sense to go easy on the "good" rifle.
