7mm TCU

More expensive to feed, but worth it.

7mm TCU

Post by TURKEYSFEARME »

Anybody out there shooting a 7-tcu in high Power?
I built one over the winter and it's a fantastic shooter with all bullets tried but I think I need some advice on ram loads. I'm pushing a 168 at right around 2000 fps I haven't tried it on steel yet but it seems a bit slow.

Try a 175MK or 168 JLK. I shot one while healing after a motorcycle wreck. Didn't lose a ram with 168 JLK. The wind will be your enemy though.

I have some 175mk's I could try, what powder did you use?

I used a case full of Varget. I don't remember the charge weight. I have a 6.5 TCU that I get great results from CFE223. That may be worth looking into for a 7TCU.

Try 162 A-max and LeverEvolution lit with rem 7-1/2 primers.

I shot one years ago and used H-335 with 168SMK's at everything. I may have some load and chronograph data, I'll look.

I found they were slightly lacking at Rams, I made mine out of 222mag cases and run the chambering reamer about 1/8" deeper than standard, gives me about 3-4g more powder. When I chrony'd it it was around 2250-2300 with 168's sierras.
Its still not a 100% on Rams but my wife shoots it and has shot great scores with it even loosing a couple of rams.
Lately I have found hornady 162 ELD matchs hold up slightly better at rams.

Thanks for the advice everyone, looks like I'm headed back to the loading bench to experiment with some new ram loads.
