It sure would be a lot quieter on the firing line. They would help cut back on long term hearing loss.

Would a silencer change the POI on your rifle?

A shift in POI is pretty normal for any muzzle attachment and especially a can.

Next time the nationals come to Raton we'll find out for sure, I'm bringing mine. 2 stage triggers, 6mm's and a suppressor make highpower a very fun game.

It would be an excuse for me to buy one, I'm for it! Let us know if they complain Kevin.

Way back when---I dont remember the year-at RAton a shooter used a can on a 10/22 at Nationals. I'm remembering he was from South Africa. Noone questioned that as far as I know. Certainly was quieter--action clacking was louder than the blast.

I could see it 'outlawed' on a hunter rifle since you can't put any attachments on, but for the silhouette rifle I don't see a rule against it.

Unless it becomes nationally accepted (I believe only 37 states allow them) it would not be practical.

Get the ACLU to sue those 13 states for banning/witholding a safety device from shooters and therefore damaging your ears ....

House Bill 367 - Hearing Protection Act of 2017, was introduced in January and will eliminate the $200 tax if passed. They will be handled like a long gun for purchase. I read that if you purchased a silencer after sometime in 2015 (can't remember the exact date) you will be reimbursed your Tax. That is, if the Bill passes. I would think this Bill will make them more desirable. I would also think it would give leverage for fighting the states that oppose them. For GOD sake it's your hearing! Huh

You joke, but the ACLU put financial backing and counsel behind 2 plantifs here in Seattle (both brick and mortar gun stores) when the city implemented a ammo tax. They've been at several heartings and have drafted from what I can tell a pretty unimpeachable response to the city's last response which will likely result in the law being overturned and the two stores in question the winner of a sizable judgement.
