cz 550 american 6.5x55

Post by dan222 »

hi hi-power steel shooters,
hey one last question, does or has anyone shot cz's 550 american? it comes in 6.5x55, with a 1x8.5 twist, in a 23.5" barrel, single stage trigger.
it sound like a gun to shoot hunter and standard with, suppose to weigh 8 pounds. any and all comments, with rings, for under $600.00
thanks in advance.......dan :?:

Like many european mfg.'s, CZ doesn't skimp in steel and tend to be a tad heavier than American rifles. Especially mauser types. Also added that the 6.5 swede is not a short action you are looking at more weight than you want. The below spec's from the CZ website indicate the rifle weigh's 8lbs. This only gives you 1lb to play with for scope and mounts.

Also when it comes time to re-barrel, you may wish to go for the full 26" allowed weight and a heavier profile.

Nice rifles, no doubt, but I'm not sure the best choice for the silhouette game.

Ammo 6.5x55 Swede
Magazine capacity 5
Magazine type Fixed
Rate of twist 1:8.6 in

Dimensions
Weight 8 lbs
Overall Length 44.7 in
Barrel Length 23.6 in
