Opinion of a Leupold BR-24-D for Silhouette
The title pretty much asks the question.
How well or how poorly with a Leupold BR-24-D scope work as a silhouette scope once the reticle is changed to a 1/2 moa dot?
I understand the AO is not the same as on the FX-3 12x40mm line of scopes from Leupold.
Is it a detriment, advantage or neither?
The scope I am considering currently has an issue with the reticle so it will be sent to Leupold regardless.
The owner is asking $400 shipped and the ad is located over on Rimfire Central if someone is in the market for one.
I am still undecided at this point.
I welcome all comments.

If you can handle 24 power, get it! They work fine.

Now there is the question! I tried a fellow shooter's 24 power Weaver and it seemed ok.

I use a 24X Leupold on my 1712. It doesn't have a "D" on it anywhere so I think it is an older scope.
Tracks great and I use a 50 ft adapter for short range practice/dry-firing.
I like it almost as well as the 6.5-20 EFR, and slightly better than the T-24 Weaver especially with the Leupold warranty.

I find a 1/2 min dot to be a bit large but that is just me. I focus better with a 3/8's or 1/4 min dot. Although I really like the type that is an open circle.
The quality of the scope is great and the lifetime warranty transfers to you and if you ever sell it.
I found 24X to be the best compromise between magnification and the restriction of field of view.
24X and 25X scopes accounted for 25% of all scope used for Standard Rifle and 1/3 for Hunter Rifle at last years Nationals.
Assuming that it is in good condition that is a fair price. If you are going to change the reticle the bit of dust on the crosshair is not an issue.
Buy it before I do.
