Is there a Practical difference between a Leupold 25x and a 30x Silhouette model scopes?
I realize there is a magnification difference of 5x but does that translate to a significant difference in use?

The field of view for the 25X is 1.3 meters at 100 meters. Eye relief is 3.9"

The field of view for the 30X is 1.1 meters at 100 meters. Eye relief is 3.6".

So a little less field of view and eye relief for the 30X. With the 30X you will see fewer of any animal at one time, they will appear 20% larger and to be moving 20% faster. =))

Thank you gentlemen. I am not sure I can handle the 20% faster part.

This will require deep thought and consideration.

Lets see, heads is 25x and tails is 30x.

For most of us mere mortals, 25x is the limit to what we can actually use. Not just take advantage of but actually use. For me, even the difference between 24x and 25x is noticeable enough that I prefer the older 24x BR models.

I never could figure out how to set the objective lens on the old BR scopes. Was that 3 revolutions or 2 from SB chickens to rams?

On another note............ a 12 power scope does not move any more than a 36 power scope. If you watch the target and NOT the dot it is hard to see. The target doesn't move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't ever follow the bouncing dot. :-bd

I have heard the same thing about the old 24BR scopes. I will contact Pete when I ready to buy one. Probably sometime after Nationals.

I agree with Jerry, I have several 18x40's, they never come off 40x, focus on the animal, don't chase the dot, & squeeze the trigger
