LEUPOLD VX3-i, 6.5-20X40 EFR

Post by Pete »

Just got my new VX-3i, 6.5-20X40 EFR
Minor cosmetic changes on the turret housing and power ring. Great optics.
Will mount it up to take it to Pe Ell on the 26th and then to the Nationals.

That is good to hear. The EFR is back in production. Is the image quality noticeably different from the VX-3 generation?

Hey Bobby,
I think the image and resolution is another step up but don't trust my 70 year old eyes.
I am going to sight it in on Friday and will report what I find.

Hey Bobby and David,

I used the new scope at Pe Ell yesterday and it worked great. Most everyone there looked through it and all concluded it is brighter and clearer than previous models The adjustment are very positive and it tracked perfectly. I will have it at Raton starting Saturday so anyone wanting to check it out feel free to look me up.

On a side note I recently got a VX-3i, 6.5-20X50mm, 30 mm tube, varmint hunter for my prairie dog gun and it is aw-sum.

Pete, I am competing in this year's nationals at the Whittington Center so I may take you up on your offer.

David,

Were you able to check out this scope? If you did, curious of your thoughts about it.

No, I was never able to connect with Pete.

Now, I was able to take a look through Big Mike's FX-3 25x. I like what I saw; at the chickens I could see a total of three animals which is a large enough field of view for me to see which animal I should be shooting.

I am saving up my lunch money for one. It will take some time but it WILL be mine!

cool.

I am liking my 25X now that my hold is much less shaky. I never really noticed how many animals I can see. I may try out my Weaver T24 on the Franken build to see if I like it there. I just have to make sure the total weight is still under 8 1/2 lbs.

I suspect with the "Breaking the shot going into the target" as Mr. Winstead said to me that the higher power scope will make that easier.

We both have scales that are reasonably accurate compared to what the NRA is using at Nationals so if you need to double check your rifle weigh let me know.

Sounds good David.

I will let you know if I do put the 1/2 min dot T24 on the Franken build. I think the T24 weighs a couple oz more. By the feel it does anyway.

FYI: Champions Shooters Supply just sent out an email saying they have these in stock. Asking price is $725.00...

Quick update.

We have received the first shipment of the new Leupold VX3i EFR 6.5-20x40mm scopes with the same DOT reticle as the old VX3 that we loved so much.

These are only available here. These are not a standard Leupold catalog item; these are direct from their custom shop and they are only available here.

Thanks - Champion Shooters Supply LLC

Mr. Pete have me a quote for both the VX 3I and FX-3 25x.

His price was much lower than $725. I have been very happy with my experience dealing with Mr. Pete. I would not hesitate buying from him again.
