How do you know when you need more magnification?

I think I will go with a fixed 25x rather than a variable. I like the simplicity and lighter weight of a fixed power scope.

Mark may be correct and I need a synthetic stock. That would give me something to paint. I have not broken out my spray gun in a while, it would be a nice excuse to go buy some paint.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the 25X is heavier than the 6-18, by about .2 oz.

You are just full of good news! On your Frankenhunter are you using the 25x or the 6-18?

On Sunday I used the 25X on the Frankenshutz. Rebekah will be using my 6-18 on her Scout setup. I am waiting to see if Waverly wants to upgrade to the 25X... I hope not anytime soon.

Maybe she would like a nice new March scope? I would recommend one of these.

I will take one if there's a line forming.

I just can't imagine spending that kind of money on a scope! I would love to look through one but it is out of my neighborhood as far as money is concerned!

I think the priciest I've looked through is a Swarovski Z6i. It was surely nice, but at some point our eyes stop picking up the differences and the value is either confidence or bragging rights.

Probably just bragging rights. If I could see the target with open sights, I would use them. That could shave off almost a pound of weight from the rifle. ;)

I just looked at the specs for this scope...

2lbs...ish

Weight 845g (29.8oz)

kind of heavy for hunter silhouette... standard maybe fine.

I enjoy shooting it ironsights. A few years ago at Louisiana State in Gonzales, there was an open sight match. I shot my weekend high score with open sights. I wasn't sure if I should be proud or embarrassed by that. x_x

That's rather very heavy. I'd rather not commit that much weight to just the scope.

I think so. For a hunting or benchrest rifle this would be great. wide variance of magnification.
