Any suggestions?

Yep, I use a base with some MOA built in myself on my 1712.

3 layers of beer can on any decent rings works just fine. It will get you out past 200m with your rimfire.

Using the remains of beer cans may do the job but is that really most elegant answer to the problem?

I think not.

A beautifully machined scope rail allowing an individual the benefit of both having built in MOA and the freedom to use Weaver type of scope rings makes more sense for someone who owns a premier rifle like an Anschutz 1712.

A scope base like this comes to my mind.

If weight was not an issue on my rifle then these would be the appropriate rings for a rifle with the rich heritage that Anschutz rifles enjoy.

I just use whats built in and bkl rings. No beer cans, no fancy rails. My scope can adjust from 40 to 100 meters just fine. I sometimes wonder what I'm missing, but it works perfectly for me. *shrug*

Based on your requirements the above referenced DIP 25 MOA base would make the most sense.
In the "not cheap, but can be done category", if you must have 20 MOA a machinist can make one or modify an existing one to fit the radius and hole spacing of the 1712 receiver.

I've been using the Weaver #81 (I think :-? ) which has nearly the same radius as the 1712. I centered and redrilled mounting holes. It's only around 7 MOA (again, I think). It was mostly just to see how it would work out since I shot for years with either no inclination or shims.

Another option would be Burris scope rings that utilize the plastic inserts. An elegant solution for an elegant rifle.

Jerry points out that it is a silhouette rifle but he shoots an Anscuhtz that is quite possibly the nicest one I have ever seen with his carbon fiber stock.
