Hey folks-
It’s been quite a while since I posted here. Several years ago, I bought a Leupold EFR Which came with the 1/2 inch Leupold dot from Chicken George, that one was for a custom semi auto that we built for our on site administrator over on RFC. I am soon taking delivery on a 1712, and was hoping to put the exact same set up on that rifle. Anyone know if George is still around, selling those modded scopes? If not, what’s the best route to get an EFR set up that way? Order it directly from Leupold with the 1/2’ dot or buy one as low priced as I can and send it in to have the reticle swapped?

You can get any dot you want for about $80.00 from Leupold

Last I heard Leupold jumped the charge to $120 for a reticle change. I have a friend that purchased a 6.5-20 from Champion Shooters (I think) about three years ago that ran about $720 with the dot installed already. I looked and I don't see them listed anymore.

I believe its around $120 for a fixed rifle scope and closer to $200 for a variable scope now

6.5-20 reticle change is about $200 from Leupold. They were pretty quick, like 2 week turnaround when I sent mine in.

I sent a Sightron SII 6-24 to Target shooter optics to get a reticle change a few weeks ago, still waiting. They are $130 which includes return shipping/insurance. It's been several weeks, and it takes a long time to get an email response. Probably best to call.

This company was mentioned on this sight but i don't have any experience with them. Just passing on the info

Yes, I sent a sightron there. Plan on probably a 6 week turn around right now.

Don't know what their current backlog is but the 6.5-20 scope I sent in 9 weeks ago is scheduled to be done late this week or early next so it would appear they are busy. Still, I would rather wait then pay the extra $100+ to Leupold.

Thanks for the replies. I looked, the 1/2” Leupold dot isn’t listed as an available reticle to purchase on a current production 6.5-20 EFR scope. I’ll email them and see if there’s any way I can order one with that reticle, and wait time. I’ll post back their response-
