I prefer the 3/8's.

Personally I use the smaller 1/8 min on a 36X scope. That would be similar to view a 1/4 min in a 24x scope. I like it that way because it is a smaller yet easy to see spot and its actual location on the target. The bigger dot covers more target area. It goes back to the same principal on why I prefer the larger 36x magnification, it allows me better visibility on the actual location on the target.

Unfortunately all the advice in the world is only a bit of an aid regarding your personal preference. There are probalby as many people that have been shooting well for a long period of time with the 24x scope and the larger dot that feels it is better.

My 2-cents are in anyway haha!

PS I think I had less spelling errors this time too...

go with the 3/8ths dot. perfect size for smallbore and highpower, if you are going with 25 to 30x. both my smallbores are 30x and my highpowers are 24x

I also like the fine precision of a fine cross hair for bench shooting, but off hand is a little different. I have used a duoplex for silhouette shooting and switched it out for a 3/8 dot. i now shoot small bore 30x 3/8 dot and hp 24x 3/8. Have shoot with a borrowed 30x with a 1/2 dot and didn't like it. too big. The 1/8 moves jumps to much for me and i find it harder to pick up. 1/2 i find too big and distracting, however alot of excellent shooters use 1/2.
my 2 cents.

I'm on the other side. I like 1/2 minute. I like the bigger dots that I've tried even better. Here is what is in all my Leupolds.

I shot a 3 min dot up in Canada one year and it was too big. Either the 3/8 or 1/2 are great.

Don't know what size they are but I love the large Leupold dots on my scopes. Had recently two installed in two 6.5X20 EFR and previously two in two 24X BR

Leupold dots I believe are a trade mark of Leupold and as far as I know they are the only ones that have them. Specify for the larger of the two other wise you are going to end up with a 1/8 minute dot. The larger is about 3/8 minute dot depending on the power of the scope but seems to be just the right size for shooting silhouettes offhand.
