T24 vs. Sightron SIIB 6-24x42 D

Post by coopdog »

The shooting I do is somewhere between Silhouette and Benchrest. A lot of 100 yard prone matches. I have an Anschutz 1517 MP R. I am deciding between these two scopes. Both have 1/8 clicks and fine crosshairs with Target dots. Putting aside price, would the Weaver T24 have any advantage over the Sightron?

If the dots are the same size, I can't see where the T-24 would have any advantage.

If weight ( less than 2 ounces difference) and price doesn't matter, I don't see any advantage that the Weaver would have over the Sightron, either. Both are going to have small dots. The glass in the Big Sky models from Sightron are going to be slightly better than the Weaver T-series scopes. The Sightron has almost an inch more eye relief, which is awesome for a centerfire rifle, but long eye relief can actually be a problem for some shorter rimfire actions. Often extended rings are necessary to get the scope far enough forward for a full field of view through the scope. I had this problem with the old model Sightron SII 24x44 fixed power scope that had 4.33" of eye relief on a CZ 452 rifle. Here are full specs for each one for current models.
