Leupold target knobs

Post by pbansen »

Hi Y'all -

I have a couple of Leupold 6.5-20x40 EFR scopes - one is a Vari-X III and one is the current model VX-3. The newer one came with two sets of knobs - a straight knob which allows the turret cap to be installed and a tapered set of knobs. My older Vari-X III has only the straight knobs. I prefer the tapered knobs and I was wondering if they were available for the older Leupold scope. I put the question to Leupold's customer service folks on their website and got a reply offering to install target turrets (which the scope already has). I resubmitted the question with a picture, but in the meantime, thought I would ask the real experts!

Anyone know if the tapered knobs will fit the Vari-V III scope? Does Leupold sell them as an accessory? How much? Anyone have a set that they don't use and want to sell??

Thanks,

Yes they'll fit and you can buy them from Leupold. They no longer include both sets of knobs sadly.

Thanks, Trent. I tried swapping the target knobs on to the older scope the other night and they fit fine.

Too bad they're not providing both sets of knobs with the target scopes any more. It must be a pretty recent development, because the VX-3 I bought through Chicken last winter had the target knobs included.

No response from Leupold on the knobs - they don't seem too dialed in to the website thing...

Not only did Bob send me a carefully packed pair of the tapered Leupold knobs in excellent condition, but he included an .050 Allen wrench and some spare setscrews! Very thoughtful and generous.

Bob - thank you very much, I owe you a beer or three!!

Same response I got from them. Makes you wonder who they hire.
