Outdoor vs. Indoor scores/classification?

Howdy folks,

I'm looking forward to the Chicken Coop shoot coming up in a few weeks, however it makes wonder about the separate indoor/outdoor pages in the NRA scorebook.

Since I've never shot an indoor air rifle match before does that mean I'm officially "unclassified" for indoor scores? I'm guessing most people would just go with their outdoor classification (which makes sense to me) but since I'm new to air rifle I just want to make sure.

For reference, this is from the most recent rulebook:
7.3.1 Indoor Air Rifle Competition - The use of an indoor facility for
firing Air Rifle Silhouette shall be permitted. However, all records set under
these conditions shall apply only as indoor records.
Any range utilizing an
indoor facility shall state this on their original application for NRA approval.
Course of fire shall be the same as Rule 7.3.

The way we've learned to do it (and we're still open to correction) is to leave shooters unclassified at first and classify them after the first 40 shot match so they'll be in their proper classification by the end of the 80 shots.

Generally speaking everyone ends up in their outdoor classification. Maybe a hair higher.

That's the best way to do it.

I've always suspected that I had no room for improvement.
