With 115 gr lead, I found (IMR)4227 had two accuracy peaks. One around 9 gr and another accuracy peak around 12 grs. The higher loads burned cleaner but damaged targets. The 9 ish gr load leaves powder and ash behind but does not stay in barrel long. I have to clean the chamber more often with 4227 but the barrel build up is not a problem in my marlin.

I used 10 grains of IMR 4227 with a Sierra 90 grain bullet and it shot very well in my marlin. Had to bump to 11 grains when I tried the 100 grain Horn. Both shot very well and had very little site adjustment.
