Third gun

Post by glen ring »

I've purchased a Marlin 39a for smallbore, a Marlin 1894m in .22 magnum for pistol cartridge and am now looking hard at a Marlin 336c in 30-30 for the long range match. I haven't owned a Marlin 30-30 since I was 12. Is this still a good choice for CLA? I have taken the 22 's in for an action job and want to make sure that the 30-30 is still a good choice.

A Marlin is still a great choice for CLA, but if I were you I'd make sure I got one with a 24" barrel to hold a little steadier on target and get a little more velocity out of the right loads. There are older models out there with 24" barrels, or the new 336 XLR would be a great, too. I shoot a 336 with a 20" barrel now, and I wish it had a 24" barrel.
