Roached out 1952 336A - same year I was born... LOLBrentD wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 6:44 pmYou might be able to make one for less. Maybe. Reboring a .30-30 for $250.Another Dang 9 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 6:32 pm The 38-55 is probably the most ideal round. But finding one under $1500 is impossible.
New wood with a nice soft pad, spit on the bluing and polish, Pioneer Gun Works Inc one piece firing pin - hammer spring kit and sights and a Wild West Trigger ......
and a trip to (the outstanding!)JES Reboring for 30-30 to 38-55
and it comes out still considerably less than a Marlin CB... (my CB cost me ~$1,600 by the time I had everything done the way I wanted it....)
Not for everyone but it is certainly an option. I think the 38-55 is very noticeably easier on the shoulder, if those things matter to you.

Would light loads in a .35 Rem behave similarly?

The .35 Rem is a good round but brass is hard to find. I've seen guys use brass that is past its prime because of scarce brass.

Thanks, I've managed to scrounge up almost 500 cases, so I have enough to get started.Another Dang 9 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2019 9:12 pm The .35 Rem is a good round but brass is hard to find. I've seen guys use brass that is past its prime because of scarce brass.

Thanks, but I wouldn't want anyone jailed or fined for breaking ITAR rules and exporting ammunition components outside the US.
