Does anyone using 125 gr & 158 gr plated bullets? Looking for load data under 1200 fps in a 24" barrel.

YMMV but any "lead" load should work or mild "jacketed" load....

24" barrel 158 gn Hornady XTP 5.5 grains of Titegroup test group averaged 1167 fps StdDev of 32. Unfortunately, my test went to 5.7 gn after that with 1230 fps StdDev of 34. .
Polymer Coated Acme SWC-NLG was 1200 fps StdDev 6 with 5.0 gn Titegroup.
I hope that helps.

I've been using these loads in my Rossi 24" 357 for about 5 years and they have proved very reliable.

Re: .357 Loads for Plated Bullets
Plated bullets have been slower than cast, for me, similar to jacketed bullet speeds . Except for some reason titegroup loads all seemed about the same. 158 Berry's plated, 20". .357 rifle. Shot on different days, so there are variables but decent ballpark numbers for my gun
5.5 unique. 1138 fps
6.5 vv n340. 1180
5.0 bullseye. 1065
5.8 titegroup. 1270
6.3 titegroup. 1350

Re: .357 Loads for Plated Bullets
Thanks for all the replys.
Part of my goal was to find loads that shoot well in both my 24" Rossi and my 10" Contender. Using powders I had on hand I settled on a couple loads for each bullet.
Berry 124 gr hollow point target
4.8 gr Tightgroup
12.0 gr IMR4227
Berry 158 gr flat point thich plated
6.0 gr Tightgroup
13.0 Alliant 2400
The 2400 load is a little faster than I was going for but is exeptionally accurate in both guns out to 200 yards.
