30-30 best lead loads for LA Silhouette
Every barrel may produce different results but we hear we may get to sub MOA groups (=<1") at 100 yards with lead or lead gas check rounds.
Who can describe their bullets and powder combinations that are typical to 30-30 (Octagon barrel) that are near or sub MOA? Also want to know how tight, i.e. barrel slugs to .309 what should we size bullet to?
We ran a ladder tests and did subsequent group tests to get to our 2.2" groups at 100 yards. Currently using 31.6gr.W798 with 125gr. Sierra Match King Flat nose.

Re: 30-30 best lead loads for LA Silhouette
We use either 165 Meister 0.309 or 165 Rimrock .310 for cpt over 9 gr TB. shoots about 1 inch at the 100m pig and which takes em down readily. The surprise was the ram load under 1 moa at ram using Matt's 183 grain 31141 gced bullet over 25.5 gr AA 2495 should be near 1900 fps. I have not miked the bore or throat since the WIn 94 Centennial (Commemorates the 66 the old yellow boy w/ a fake brass receiver) shoots them so well but prefer the .310 since should fill the throat better.

shootmore:
100 yds is just the pig distance for CLA you should expect at least 1.5 inches or better. At 200yds,Rams it should be 3 inches or better. If you're not checking ammo loads with a scope on the gun it's hard to determine what your true spread is.

sorry about my mistake i thought the use of the word "lead" in your query '30-30 best lead loads for LA Silhouette meant you were seeking cast bullet loads

Re: 30-30 best lead loads for LA Silhouette
I just got the Lyman "Cast Bullet Handbook" 4th Edition
I have Load BooK USA for most of the calibers I shoot and regular Lyman on Ebook.
The Cast Handbook has tons more cast lead data.
