lever action shooting
I would like to have some info on lever action centerfire catagories. I'm new at this. Are there sanctioned lever catagories and events or are these just club shoots?

There are two categories of NRA sanctioned Cowboy Lever CF:
Pistol Cartridge
Cowboy Rifle
'Pistol Cartridge' is pretty much self-explanatory. Shot on the Hunter's Pistol course. Half-size animals at 40/50/75/100m.
Cowboy Rifle is rimmed rifle cartridges. (Think Deer rifle. A .30-30 is about as common as anything although .35 Remington is also legal.) Shot on the full-size animals at 50/100/150/200m.
Think of them as expanded Cowboy Lever Rimfire... (Assuming that you're familiar with that.)

Thanks Nomad, I have restricted myself to muzzleloaders for nearly 10 years and find myself behind on the competition and technology curve.
I just moved, found a new range and new events to shoot. Opened the closet and dusted things off. I had actually forgotten I owned some of that stuff!
Fortunately, the practical nature of chicken shooting means a well thought out gun in the 80s is still a well thought out gun!
