Equipment race, NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wasn't going to post this but could not resist it. This is for all the people that complain about equipment race in hunter class. We had our year ending match this weekend. We shoot 2 60 shot matches with each rifle. One of our shooters decided to shoot his CZ 452 American this weekend. It was a factory stock rifle with the original trigger. It just had sear honed a bit. He shoot it in both classes. in standard class he shot a 53 and a 51. In hunter he shot a 57 and 49. Last match was a little hot and he was tired. So my theory has always been, I have never been beaten by a rifle. But many shooters have beaten me. So the equipment race is just a lame excuse to complain, maybe they just need to buy a CZ.

Steve, I agree 100%. The thing that makes silhouette such a great sport is the fact that you can't spend your way into being good at it.sdwooster wrote:So the equipment race is just a lame excuse to complain

I've always rolled my eyes at the idea of silhouette being an equipment race. The shooter will always be the limiting factor. Some factors of equipment can be enabling for a less conditioned shooter, but never will good scores be bought.

No equipment race?
That is a relief because I suspect my equipment is rather slow. I know its owner sure as Hades is slow!
He is a lousy shot too; that is why his spinners last so long. It is tough to wear them out when you constantly miss.

The person Steve is talking about is Paul shooting his left-handed CZ 452 American. Paul won one rifle and Eric Boos won the other. I tried to bring your rifle back to you and you didn't show up.Byron wrote:Who was this unnamed shooter?

Re: Equipment race, NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that is a nice meme.
On another note, I might shoot my CZ455 this weekend, because I am curious to see how it shoots with that new Timney installed. How do you race with equipment anyway?

Yes and no.
I shot NRA HP for 20 years- its an equipment race to a point. The good things there is only so much you can do to an AR, it does create a level playing field.
I LOVE the CLA part of this sport. On the line in a T shirt, with my Fed Auto Match ammo and my Henry, I don't think twice about the Marlin 39A next to me. Its all me!
CZ does the same thing. And that's how this sport started. But there is an awful lot of Anschutz's on the line-
just sayin'
chuck
My next purchase is a CZ

Pretty much how it is in any game. A skilled competitor in average equipment will do better than an average competitor in top equipment. It is only at the skill apex that equipment makes a difference. I remember an expression from my hot rod days...speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?

Skill is something that can't be bought like equipment.topclass wrote:Pretty much how it is in any game. However, one wise gentleman told me that you do not want to let the equipment beat you.

A wise gentleman told me once, "make sure you have the rifle pointing at the target when the rifle goes off if you want to hit the target."
