From what I understand, many local matches will allow almost any 22 short of a hardcore Anschutz target rifle for the equivalent just to get people involved. So even if you have just a 10-22 Ruger, you might still inquire about shooting a local match.

Cody ,Dick and Bryan all run an "open" class at the monthly matches, that gets a lot of Win 52's, Martini's etc, out and shooting , it also cause the owners of those rifles to start searching hard for "lega" rifles.
Brent is dead on, it's a good way to get participation and exposure.
