NRA End of Year Accounting

Last Friday I received a letter from the NRA that we had not accounted for 10 score books. When I had signed up for the 2018 matches I had requested 30 score books. The NRA sent me 40. My wife remembers me grumbling about the extra 10 books we didn't ask for. We sold 15. In October I sent them the 15 sold stubs with payment (which has been cashed) and the stubs from the 25 unsold books.

The book numbers they claim we had not accounted for, we had never received. I know for a fact we never had 50 score books. I also reached out to all the people who participated in our matches this year to see if any of the numbers in question were sold to them just to be sure. The other odd thing was there was a note on the letter stating that some of the pistol books had been reassigned as rifle books which makes no sense to me. We never sanctioned our pistol matches this year because no one was buying books. I have responded in writing to the NRA stating that they are the ones in error and am waiting their reply.

Over the weekend I received an email from another match director for a club 90 miles from us. He also got a letter stating they had not accounted for some books they never received.

Has anyone else had this issue this year? I'm wondering what's going on with the silhouette division at the NRA.

I also received a letter last weekend. I usually collect books from several match directors, so it is taking me a while to inventory. That being said, I am pretty sure I returned all unused books.

I also received a form letter from the NRA regarding two (2) stubs that weren't accounted for. I think I cleared that up. However the letter start out with the threat "before we can move forward into 2019"....so are they saying that without these missing books they are going to withhold sanctioning matches for 2019? Really?

I also got the threatening letter and her count was off by 5. I sent in the remaining book stubs I still had and now I am waiting for her to question it.
I had a problem last year also and hate dealing with some of this.

Just offering an opposing view: I have not had an issue this year or any other with scorebook accounting.
One year, I had a missing stub, but put in an additional slip of paper with statement along the lines of "lost #xyz, but money is included."
I'm guessing the $ helped smooth things out, but don't know that for a fact.

Not diminishing your troubles, just saying it's not everyone nor every time.

I was not suggesting everyone had this problem, just wondering if it was more than a few. So far I know of 8 match directors who have received similar letters for books they never received.

A few years back the NRA floated the idea of us prepaying for books and would then refund to us what we did not sell. They said they were having trouble collecting for all the books. From what I'm seeing the accounting errors are at least partially on their side. I never had any issues while Greg was running the Sil department. Since the management change there have been a few hiccups.

I've never had any problems with books.... before or after. I shoot regularly with 4 other match directors and the subject of book issues have never came up except when one of us runs out and has someone that needs one...
